HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!. It's July 4th and the vibes are high all around. We've got hot dog eating contests, fireworks and drinks flowing all around the country. Strap in and let's indulge in another Great American Pass-time, sports gambling.
Juan Soto records another base hit for the Yankees.
It's Independence Day so naturally we're going to start the day by betting on a Dominican, Mr. Juan Soto.
Soto's been great so far this season, posting a 0.300 batting average to go with 20 home runs and 61 RBI. He's been the best player in pinstripes, not names Aaron Judge. Juan's batting 0.298 and 0.561 SLG against righties this season, recording 15 of his 20 home runs against them.
Soto and Red's pitcher Frankie Montas have never faced off but Montas has struggled against lefties this year. He's allowing lefties to hit 0.258 with 6 of the 8 home runs he's allowed coming against left handed bats.
We've got a day game on the docket in New York City, and Soto's lived for the afternoon games this season. He's 0.306 during the day with a 0.537 SLG. He's 1/6 so far in this series with the Reds and today's looking the perfect day for some fireworks…
Marcell Ozuna has been the Braves' MVP this season.
We're going right back to the Atlanta Braves most valuable player, Marcell Ozuna.
It's just over halfway through the season, and Ozuna is batting 0.297 with 21 home runs and 67 RBI.
Ozuna hit a bit of a dry spell in June, hitting just 5 home runs in 27 games and he started July in the same kind of funk. He's gone 1/7 through two games against the Giants, and tonight in the final game of their series, I'm expecting him to break out of that funk.
He's batting 0.318 at home this season with a 0.616 SLG.
I love this spot for Ozuna, I think he gets his first home run since June 22nd.
