Market Consensus MLB Picks
We monitor the sports betting industry’s experts and provide a pick based off the market consensus. A pick for each bet, the moneyline, the total, and the runline (point spread) can be found here on our MLB Picks page.
These picks are based off some of the best free pick providers including Wunderdog, Covers, Sports Betting Dime, Pickswise and more.
We pair the market consensus pick with the best available line from one of our recommended sports betting sites to give you the best bet for the moneyline, the total and the runline for every game on the today’s slate!
Shall We Do an Example?
The New York Mets are visiting the Atlanta Braves.
All five sources that Betting News monitors are picking the Braves to win and the best odds available on the moneyline are -140 at Bovada.
Four out of five sources are picking the under 8.5, and the best price available for that pick is -105 at BetOnline.
However, four out of five sources are picking the Mets to cover the +1.5 runline (the point spread in baseball betting), with the best price available being -155 at BetUs.
Betting News Best Bets on our MLB Picks page are subject to change based on how we calculate market consensus. Best Bets are also not financial advice. Please gamble responsibly.
How Do We Calculate the Market Consensus?
Betting News uses predicted scores advertised by free picks providers to determine the market consensus.
Each pick provider gives us a projection of how they think each game will end.
We then take this information and figure out where the majority of experts align.
Let’s expand on the above example:
The consensus lines for that game are:
- Moneyline: Mets +120/Braves -140
- Total (Over/Under): OVER 8.5/UNDER 8.5 (-110)
- Point Spread (Runline): Mets +1.5 (-155)/Braves -1.5 (+135)
Based on the sources in the example, all five experts picked the Braves to win. Therefore, we would recommend betting on the Braves on the moneyline if you so choose. We will also point you to the sports betting site with the best odds available. In this case, that would be -140 on Bovada.
Line shopping is critical to being a successful sports bettor.
This logic also applies to the total and runline.
In the example, we had 80% of our experts project under 8.5 runs in this game. Therefore, we would reccommend betting the under at BetOnline since it had the best odds.
Likewise with the runline, 80% of experts thought the Mets would end up covering the runline. Based on that and after line shopping, we would steer you in the direction of BetUS to place a bet on the Mets +1.5.
Why Should You Trust Our MLB Consensus Picks?
Our MLB picks come from only reputable sources in the sports betting industry. Here at Betting News, we bet every single day just like you. We know how grueling this process can be, and with so much information out there, we make sure we are only promoting sources that we would use in our own daily research.
We also frequently use our MLB consensus picks, as well as our NFL, NBA, and NHL consensus picks, in our articles to support the predictions, picks, and betting analysis that we provide.
While we do trust our sources and these picks, nothing is completely guaranteed. We do not recommend relying solely on these picks, and advise every bettor to do their own due diligence. These picks, as any picks or information you might find on the Internet, are meant to be a guide, not a gospel.
It is important to do your own research and not follow anything or anyone blindly, including us.
Nothing in this game is guaranteed. There is no “lock”, there is no “can’t lose” play. We’re betting on humans playing sports. Anything can happen.
Even if 100% of our sources agree, and every writer on our staff agrees, nobody knows exactly what will happen in a sporting event.
However, if you use well-sourced picks, other content that you may find, such as the articles that we write on specific games, and, most importantly, your own research, you can navigate the ups and downs of sports betting well.
If you have any questions about our MLB picks, don’t hesitate to reach out to us on Twitter or X, either our main account or one of our writers, who are all active tweeters.
