Welcome to my MLB expert picks today! Thursday's slate is not huge, but we have two spots that I like quite a bit. We are laying a run line with the Yankees against a Rockies starter who has been consistently hit hard away from Coors Field, then heading to Philadelphia for a possible low-scoring matchup between Zack Wheeler and Cristian Javier. Let's get into my best MLB bets for Sept. 10 and find a couple of winners.

MLB Expert Picks Today for Thursday, Sept. 10

We'll begin in the Bronx, where the Yankees host the Rockies for a 7:05 PM ET matchup. Ryan Feltner gets the ball for Colorado, while Max Fried starts for New York.
Yankees vs. Rockies Pitching Matchup
- Colorado Rockies: RHP Ryan Feltner (5-9, 5.91 ERA, 81 SO)
- New York Yankees: LHP Max Fried (4-4, 2.73 ERA, 87 SO)
The Yankees odds are expensive here, but this is a matchup worth paying for. I believe the Yankees will cover this run-line pick.
Feltner has been a problem everywhere this season, not just at Coors Field. He owns a 5.36 road ERA, strikes out fewer than 17% of opposing hitters, and has allowed plenty of damaging contact. He does get ground balls at a decent clip, but there is not much else in the profile that inspires confidence against a loaded Yankees lineup.
Hitters from both sides of the plate are slugging north of .500 against Feltner, and he has allowed an ISO above .200 to righties and lefties. That is a nasty combination when you are walking into Yankee Stadium, especially with warm weather expected in the Bronx.
Ben Rice and Luis Garcia Jr. are in absolute smash spots against Feltner. Rice has been a serious source of left-handed power against righties, while Garcia is putting together a breakout season and has done most of his damage against right-handed pitching. Those two are just part of a Yankees offense that has enough length to punish a starter who does not miss bats. By the way, Aaron Judge is back! That could help the Yankees make this bet a winning ticket.
Fried has been very good when healthy, carrying a 2.73 ERA into Thursday. He gives New York a massive advantage on the mound, and it is hard to see Colorado keeping pace if Feltner gets into trouble early.
Expert Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 (-150)
Phillies vs. Astros MLB Expert Picks Today (Sept. 10)

Next, we head to Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies host the Astros for a 1:05 PM ET matchup. Cristian Javier takes the mound for Houston, while Zack Wheeler gets the ball for Philadelphia.
Astros vs. Phillies Pitching Matchup
- Houston Astros: RHP Cristian Javier (2-5, 5.98 ERA, 50 SO)
- Philadelphia Phillies: RHP Zack Wheeler (12-5, 3.23 ERA, 163 SO)
The Astros and Phillies have enough offensive firepower to make any under a little uncomfortable, but this total is more about Wheeler and the potential for Javier to keep Houston in the game.
Wheeler has found his form again after a brief rough patch earlier in August. He is coming off back-to-back starts in which he allowed only one earned run, and pitching at home gives Philadelphia a major advantage. When Wheeler is locating his fastball and getting to his secondary stuff, he can take an entire lineup out of a game.
Javier is the reason this number needs a little faith. His 5.98 ERA is ugly, and he is not a pitcher I generally want to blindly trust. But the expected ERA is more than a full run lower, and there are a few indicators that suggest he can be better than the surface numbers.
Javier has allowed plenty of fly balls and the occasional barrel, which is always dangerous at Citizens Bank Park. But he has limited hard contact more effectively than the ERA suggests, owns a 73rd-percentile chase rate, and ranks in the 84th percentile in whiff rate. He has also struck out more than 30% of right-handed hitters this season.
That matters against a Phillies lineup whose right-handed bats often determine just how dangerous the offense becomes. Javier has held lefties to a .124 expected ISO, and his ability to miss bats gives him a chance to survive a few tense innings.
He is also coming off a solid five-inning, one-run start against Arizona and has not allowed more than three runs in any of his last three appearances. If Javier can provide a competent five innings, Wheeler is more than capable of doing the rest of the heavy lifting on the other side.
I like the chances of this Phillies vs. Astros game staying under the 8.5 total.
Expert Pick: Astros vs. Phillies Under 8.5 Runs (-110)
Good luck on Thursday. Let's cash a couple of winners!
