The Rockies are coming into tonight's game against the Nationals off back to back losses to the Dodgers, losing 3 of 4 in their divisional series. They've lost 8 of their last 11 games overall, including 5 of their last 7 home games.
It's been tough to be a Rockies fan this year, but guys like Ryan McMahon have given fans something to cheer about. He's hit 13 home runs this year and leads the Rockies in that department; as well as in runs, and RBI.
McMahon is hitting 0.274 this season but that number jumps to 0.329 against lefties. He's hit 5 of his 13 home runs against lefties, despite seeing less than half the number of at-bats.
He's also had 2+ hits in 3 straight games and 6 of his L8 games overall. He even hit his first home run since June 12th last night against Los Angeles.
After getting beat down by the Dodgers, I really feel like the Rockies come out tonight swinging; literally.
I caught everyone off guard with Winker yesterday, and we're going right back to him. Jesse's posted a 0.270 batting average this season, and among the Nationals, he's 2nd in hits, 3rd in RBI, and 2nd in XBH.
So why are we going back to him tonight? Simple answer, Coors Field.
Coors Field is the most hitter friendly park in baseball, it's just a fact. Today the weather looks fantastic, just as it has the last few days. Yesterday we saw Ohtani, Will Smith, and Freddie Freeman all go deep, now tonight they get a red hot Nationals team.
Jesse's hit his bases in 4 straight games, with a home run in back to back games and 2+ hits in 2 of the four games.
He's batting 0.286 against righties this season, with 7 of his 8 home runs coming against right handed pitchers and 14 of his 19 XBH.
The Nationals are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Diamondbacks with CJ Abrams out of the lineup but tonight he returns to the lineup hopefully giving the Nationals a bit of a boost.
Winker's slid back down to the 3 spot, but I love this matchup for him tonight.
