Creighton Tennessee Sweet 16 Preview best Bets

ncaab

The last time Creighton made the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, it was 1941, when eight teams is what the tournament consisted of. Tonight, the Bluejays will look to break their long drought as they face Princeton in the second South Regional semifinal (9:00 pm ET, TBS).

Since 1941, the Bluejays have had four cracks at making the Elite Eight, the most recent one coming in 2021 when they were eliminated by Gonzaga.

To break the drought, Creighton (23-12) will have to stop Princeton (23-8) short of becoming the second #15 seed to reach the Elite Eight and end their own long Elite Eight drought, which goes back to 1965.

Who will move on to face either San Diego State or Alabama in Sunday's regional final in Louisville? Read on for our Princeton vs Creighton prediction and picks.

Creighton Looks to Continue Late-Season Spread Success

Princeton vs Creighton Sweet Sixteen preview prediction March Madness Ryan Kalkbrenner Bluejays

Entering the season, Creighton had sky-high expectations, but six straight losses after a 6-0 start left them with a hill to climb to land a high March Madness seed.

But since that losing skid, the Bluejays are 17-6 SU, and they were able to land the #6 seed in the South Regional despite a few stumbles late in the season.

It has taken a while for Creighton's spread numbers to turn around, but they come into their matchup with Princeton 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games.

Creighton is still only 18-17-0 ATS this season, but they are 14-6 SU and 11-9-0 ATS when favored by ten or fewer points, with two of those losses when they were without Ryan Kalkbrenner against BYU and Arizona State.

The Creighton that we saw against #3 seed Baylor in the second round is the Creighton that we expected to see in March, and they have the talent to reach the Final Four.

That said, Princeton certainly won't be scared after slowing down and beating two teams who can light up the scoreboard in Arizona and Missouri.

Arizona averaged 81.9 points per game this season, but the Tigers held them to just 55 points. Missouri averaged 78.9 PPG this season, but Princeton held them to just 63 points. Over a third of those points coming in the final 6:25 of the game, when the Ivy League champions were too far in the distance to be reeled in.

Can they put the clamps down defensively for a third game in a row? If they do, Creighton's recent spread run will be in serious jeopardy.

Princeton vs Creighton Prediction and Picks

Prediction for Princeton vs Creighton: Creighton to win

Picks for Princeton vs Creighton: Creighton to cover (Best Value: -9.5 @ Bovada Sportsbook & BetMGM) & Ryan Kalkbrenner over 15.5 points (Bovada Sportsbook)

Princeton was able to frustrate the life out of both Arizona and Missouri, but with time to study and prepare for what the Tigers bring to the table, I think Creighton will be ready.
