It won’t garner the excitement of a chance to play on the March Madness stage, but 32 teams who missed out on this year’s NCAA Tournament will take part in the 2023 NIT.
Last year, Xavier defeated Texas A&M 73-72 to claim the 2022 NIT title at Madison Square Garden.
The Musketeers won’t be back to defend their title, as they are the #3 seed in the Midwest Regional in this year’s March Madness bracket after excelling in Sean Miller’s return to the program.
The Aggies won’t be back either, as they are the #7 seed in the same regional after being the SEC’s second-best team in conference play behind #1 overall seed Alabama.
Also, the conclusion of this year’s NIT will not take place at MSG. Instead, the four teams who emerge from the four eight-team brackets will duke it out at Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas area.
Who will lift the trophy on March 30? Let’s take a look at 2023 NIT odds, which will be updated throughout the tournament.
