Sunday Night Baseball is at historic Fenway Park tonight in Boston as an MLB rivalry as old as time happens tonight. The Red Sox play hosts to the New York Yankees tonight on ESPN. This series is all tied up at 1 game a piece, with the winner walking away with the series victory as well.
Both teams are tossing out right handed studs with sub 1.25 WHIPs this year, so we should be in for a treat. There is no love lost between these two AL East squads, however 13 games separate the 1st place Yankees and the 3rd place Red Sox. Boston needs this game tonight in order to keep their AL East and playoff hopes alive.
Rafael Devers leads the Red Sox in Home Runs and Batting Average this year
After losing 8-1 on Friday Night at Fenway, the Red Sox rallied and beat the Yankees last night by a score of 8-4. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the 1st and never looked back. Marcus Stroman is on the bump for the Yankees today, and we know this guy can throw fire. His 6-2 record on the season speaks for itself, and he's won four straight road starts. Stroman actually hasn't lost on the road this year, posting 5 wins and 2 no decisions on the road. I think he's able to do the same today.
The Red Sox are one of the better hitting teams against RHP, but their average drops slightly at home and there's not enough of a difference in my opinion. But for Boston, they start Kutter Crawford. The Red Sox have lost the last 7 games that Crawford has started in, and he's taken the L in the last 4.
The Yankee bats stay consistent on the road and slightly improve against RHP, and to be honest, I think they could really get to Crawford. He's allowed Home Runs in 5 straight starts, along with 2+ earned runs in 8 of his L9. I think tonight at Fenway, we could see some fireworks and plenty of runs for New York.
Now I've got 1.5 units on this to return 1.06 profit, so let me tell you, I am very confident in this one. We've backed the Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball before, and it's worked out, tonight I think we go right back to them in this rivalry game. New York is 17-6 in their L23 contests, and with a 2.5 game lead in their division, they will want to stay ahead of the Orioles in the AL East.
New York and Baltimore are certainly making it a two horse race in that division, so I like the Yankees to stay focused on the road, win this game and series against Boston, and stay on top of the AL East. I think this is a reasonably priced ML for such a dominant baseball squad.
