Last night, the Detroit Tigers opened their road series with the Arizona Diamondbacks with their best all-around showing in some time, thanks to AL Cy Young contender Tarik Skubal and a boatload of run support.
Tonight, the Diamondbacks will look to return the favor with their own Cy Young candidate on the bump.
Yesterday, Skubal spun his latest gem, allowing one hit (and zero walks) and striking out six in six innings. He was backed by an offensive onslaught that produced 17 hits and a season-high 13 runs in a 13-0 victory.
It was a resounding response for the Tigers (22-22) after being shut out in the last two games of a home series loss to the Miami Marlins, who entered the series with just one series win all season.
The Diamondbacks (21-24), on the other hand, suffered their biggest loss of the season. As a result, they dropped back under .500 at home (11-12) after moving to .500 with a series-clinching win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.

Detroit Tigers vs Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Analysis
With Gallen on the mound today, Arizona won't be short on confidence about getting back in the win column.
Gallen has won each of his first three home starts this season, and in 17 innings in those three starts, he has allowed just one run.
The Diamondbacks are 13-10 in games following a loss and 9-7 in games as a home favorite, landing in the middle of the league in both categories. But with Gallen performing well at home and in May (2-0, 1.50 ERA in two starts this month), they are poised for a positive result tonight.
It should be a good night for both starting pitchers. Flaherty has yet to win this season, but six of his eight starts have been quality starts, including each of his last three.
In that stretch, he has a 2.33 ERA and 27 strikeouts (and only two walks) in 19.1 innings. After posting a 1.58 WHIP across 2022 and 2023, Flaherty has a 1.05 WHIP this season.
However, he hasn't gotten much run support in this current stretch, and that is unlikely to change tonight even if the Tigers are coming off of a big game at the dish.
In addition to this being a good spot to back the home team, it's also a good spot to back strikeout props on both sides.
Flaherty has recorded six or more strikeouts in seven of his eight starts in 2024, including each of his four road starts. Gallen, meanwhile, has six or more strikeouts in five of his eight starts this season.
