Oregon State vs Washington State Week 4 Game Preview

For the most part, this Pac-12 rivalry has been all Washington State for nearly a decade.

The Cougars have emerged victorious in eight of their last nine meetings with the Beavers dating back to 2014. In fact, Oregon State earned each of those victories consecutively until the streak came to an end with Washington State's 24-10 win at home last October.

However, Washington State has the home-field advantage this time around. The Cougars are on a four-game winning streak against the Beavers at Martin Stadium, outscoring the latter by an average of 14.5 points.

Furthermore, Washington State has covered the spread in 10 of its last 13 home games. On the flip side, Oregon State is only 3-6 ATS in its last nine meetings with WSU.

Oregon State vs Washington State prediction, odds & picks
Can Washington State win its fifth straight home game against Oregon State on Saturday?

It's also going to take a lot for Oregon State to slow down the home team's passing game. Washington State averages 358.5 passing yards per game (T-No. 5 in NCAAF) and quarterback Cameron Ward has already thrown nine touchdown passes.

Meanwhile, Oregon State is allowing 239.5 passing yards per contest (No. 79) and just gave up 256 to San Diego State.

Having said that, the Beavers have a talented backfield that averages 194.0 rushing yards per game (No. 25). Although the Cougars only allow 63.5 rushing yards per outing (No. 11), it's clear that they'll need a full four-quarter effort to weather this storm.

Either way, with a plethora of offensive talent on both sides of the field, this Oregon State vs. Washington State showdown is gearing up to be one of this weekend's most entertaining matchups.

Oregon State vs Washington State Prediction Week 4

After Oregon State won last year, I'm going with Washington State winning on Saturday. Not only does the home-field advantage give them an edge but the Cougars' superior passing game should help them if this contest turns into a back-and-forth affair.

Back WSU to improve to 4-0 when all is said and done.

Prediction: Washington State 35, Oregon State 30 — Washington State +3 (-121 on BetOnline)

Oregon State vs Washington State Best Bet

Even though the Under on the 59.5-point total is favored, I like the Over as the best Oregon State vs. Washington State bet.

First of all, the Over is 2-1 in each of these teams' first three games. Oregon State's outings have seen an average of 52.0 PPG score thus far while Washington State's saw 70.7 PPG.

Secondly, eight of the latest 10 Beavers-Cougars collisions saw 60 or more points scored with the Pac-12 rivals also combining for no fewer than 55 points in each of their last five meetings at Martin Stadium. In other words, brace for a lot of points this weekend.

Bet: Over 59.5 Total Points (-105 on BetOnline)
