The 2023 NCAA college football Week 4 schedule includes several massive matchups, including a Pac-12 showdown between No. 22 UCLA and No. 11 Utah. The Bruins emerged victorious from last year’s UCLA vs Utah shootout, making it interesting to see if history repeats itself.

Both Pac-12 programs are 3-0 heading into Week 4. UCLA is coming off a dominant 59-7 victory over North Carolina Central while Utah’s backfield rushed for 231 yards in a 31-7 win against Weber State.

So, which of these rivals will remain perfect when all is said and done?

This UCLA vs. Utah betting preview helps shed light on the upcoming matchup. Let’s take a look at the latest NCAAF odds for this game, as well as my prediction and the best bets to make.

UCLA vs Utah Week 4 Game Preview

Last season’s 42-32 win over Utah was a rare victory for UCLA in this rivalry. After all, it marked the first time that the Bruins scored a victory since November 2015, ending a five-game slide to the rival Utes.

Nevertheless, the fact that this matchup is taking place at Rice-Eccles Stadium brings another challenge to the table. After all, UCLA tasted defeat in each of its last three visits to Salt Lake City, averaging only 14.7 PPG while being outscored by an average of 32.3 points.

Utah has also been fantastic in its own backyard over the last few years, winning 16 straight home games ahead of this collision. Furthermore, the Utes are 14-2 in their last 16 games against fellow Pac-12 schools.

For reference, that’s fewer losses than the Bruins had against the conference in 2022 (3).

UCLA vs Utah prediction, odds & picks
Is this the year that UCLA finally wins at Rice-Eccles Stadium? The Bruins haven’t won there since 2015.

It’ll be interesting to see which run game prevails on Saturday after both teams have found a ton of success on the ground.

UCLA is averaging 205.5 rushing yards per game (T-No. 18) to begin the 2023 season while Utah averages a respectable 164.5 (No. 47). Having said that, the Bruins and Utes have defended the run well, allowing just 59.5 (No. 6) and 67.0 (No. 13) rushing yards per game, respectively.

If the Pac-12 rivals are forced to take to the sky, UCLA has a slight edge. The Bruins average 280.0 passing yards (T-No. 29) on a 60.3% completion rate, whereas Utah averages 159.0 (No. 111) with 55.1% success (No. 99).

If both defenses play strong, this should be a close game. However, if Utah’s pass defense isn’t up for the challenge, the home team could be in trouble.

UCLA vs Utah Prediction Week 4

After last year’s upset, I see Utah getting back on track with a win. The Utes have destroyed the Bruins at home for nearly a decade and have won 16 straight outings at Rice-Eccles Stadium for a reason.

UCLA will keep things closer than expected, but the rowdy home crowd will give Utah the boost it needs to prevail.

Prediction: Utah 37, UCLA 34 — UCLA +6 (-105)

UCLA vs Utah Best Bet

As for the best UCLA vs. Utah bet, let’s lock in the total going Over 52.5 total points (-115).

These rivals aren’t strangers to high-scoring games, hitting the Over on four of their last six projected totals. The Bruins and Utes combined for an average of 67.8 points in those games, which includes combining for 60-plus points four times.

With the pair combining for no fewer than 52 points in their last three clashes in Salt Lake City, NCAAF fans better prepare for a shootout this weekend.

Bet: Over 52.5 Total Points (-115)
