The American League leading Tampa Bay Rays are in Missouri taking on the Kansas City Royals in the last game of a three game series!

These teams got rained out on Friday Night and had to play a doubleheader yesterday where the Rays won both games, 6-1 and then 4-2. The Royals sit in last place of the worst division in baseball and are only 26-67 overall.

Only the Oakland A’s have less wins and more losses.

Let’s break down this afternoon’s game!

Rays vs Royals Season History

Rays Royals Prediction Best Bets July 16

These teams faced off in late June for a four game series down in Tampa Bay. Quite surprisingly, the Royals were able to win two games and split the series with the Rays who were leading the MLB at the time.

We saw plenty of runs in three out of four games, with totals ending in double digits.

Zach Eflin, who we will see on the mound today, pitched six innings en route to an 11-3 Rays win. Eflin gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits, including 2 home runs, yet the Rays still managed to score 11 and secure the victory.

The Rays won both games yesterday, but do the Royals have any chance today at home?

Rays vs Royals Prediction & Best Bets

I think the Rays win this ball game but I don’t necessarily see any value on the sides or total. What I do love is a player prop and I think you all will love it too.

I’ve already talked about this guy having a great outing against this opponent, and I think he does so again today.

Player Props

Zach Eflin over 5.5 Strikeouts (+106)

Rays Royals Prediction Best Bets July 16

Eflin clears this number in 53% of starts this season, although only 3 of 7 away games.

He already pitched great against Kansas City this year, sitting down 7 batters.

It also helps that the Royals love to strikeout, doing so nearly 25% of the time. Kansas City strikeouts 4th most against RHP, and today they face Eflin who has the stuff to sit them down.

I think Eflin strikeouts plenty as the Rays dominate the Royals today in Kansas City.

He has a game with double digit strikeouts, and three games in which he had nine.

Against this Royals team, I’ll take my chances and ladder this.

  • 6+ Ks (+106)
  • 7+ Ks (+220)
  • 8+ Ks (+450)
