The end of a streak means that it is time to start a new one, and that is what the Seattle Mariners will look to do this afternoon in the rubber game of their series with the Baltimore Orioles.

Yesterday, Seattle’s eight-game win streak came to an end with a 1-0, 10-inning loss, as their bats went dry after scoring nine runs in Friday’s series opener.

Still, the Mariners (63-53, 34-27 home) have a chance to close out the weekend with a series win over the Orioles (72-45, 36-22 away), who maintained a two-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East with the win.

This afternoon’s series finale sees two righties take the mound, with Kyle Bradish going for Baltimore and rookie Bryce Miller going for Seattle. Will we see another tight, low-scoring contest, or will one side break out the bats like the M’s did on Friday?

Pitching Matchup for Orioles vs Mariners

  • Baltimore Orioles: RHP Kyle Bradish (21 starts, 7-6, 3.19 ERA)
  • Seattle Mariners: RHP Bryce Miller (16 starts, 7-4, 4.20 ERA)

Will Miller Deliver a Series Win for the Mariners?

If these odds hold, the Orioles will close as a road favorite for the 17th time this season.

That is a small amount compared to other division leaders like the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. But it is a spot in which Baltimore has thrived this season, going 12-4 (.750) as a road favorite.

The only other MLB team with that kind of success is the Cincinnati Reds, who are 6-2 as a road favorite this season.

That said, this is also a strong spot for the Mariners. They are 6-3 in Miller’s home starts, and they are 7-3 in their last ten games following a loss.

The Orioles, meanwhile, are just 4-5 in Bradish’s last nine road starts after winning in his first three road starts this season.

Also, Miller’s splits swing things favorably for Seattle, while the same can’t be said for Bradish’s splits and the Orioles’ hopes of the road series win.

On the road, Bradish is 4-3 with a 4.06 ERA in a dozen starts, compared to 3-3 with a 2.18 ERA in nine home starts.

Miller, on the other hand, is 5-2 with a 3.49 ERA in nine home starts this season, compared to 2-2 with a 5.15 ERA in seven road starts.

Baltimore Orioles vs Seattle Mariners Prediction and Best Bets

Orioles vs Mariners Best Bets: Mariners ML (-105 at Bovada) & Julio Rodriguez to record an RBI (+160 at Bovada)

This one is a real toss-up, but the Mariners ultimately get the nod here. The Orioles have the best road record in the National League, but the Mariners are 8-3 in their last 11 home games, so they will be up to the task.

Rodriguez went 2 for 5 with a homer and four RBI in Friday’s 9-2 win, but he was hitless in five at-bats yesterday.

Each of the previous three times he went hitless, Rodriguez homered and drove in at least one run in the next game. In addition to being +160 to drive in at least one run, he comes in at +450 to deliver a dinger today.
