Week 1 of the NFL Preseason wraps up on Saturday, giving us seven games on our screens all afternoon. There's a few matchups kicking off at 1:00 p.m. eastern, a couple more at 4:00, and then two more staggered in the late viewing window. Our experts found picks in three of these contests, giving you a pick to sweat out all day, and into the night. Let's see what they scared up for Saturday's NFL slate.
NFL Preseason: Saturday's Predictions August 15
Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants NFL Picks
Kyler Murray is QB1 in Minnesota, and will get some snaps on Saturday alongside most of the Viking's starters
Best Bet: Vikings ML (-135) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
I'll pay some juice to back Minnesota on the road in Week 1 of the NFL Preseason. I am very low on the Giants this season and am fading their 7.5 win total which is ridiculously high because of Harbaugh. He hasn't indicated whether or not Jaxson Dart and the starters are going to play, but on the other sideline, we'll see the best.
Despite not doing so in earlier preseasons, Kevin O'Connell will play "a majority" of the starters, including new QB Kyler Murray. Whenever Murray gets pulled, a motivated JJ McCarthy will take his place. I think overall Minnesota is just the better team, and the fact that we'll get starters for a few drives gives me plenty of confidence in them putting up points and winning this game on the road.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Picks
Justin Fields is backing up Patrick Mahomes this season. But he will start on Saturday at Arrowhead.
Best Bet: Rams/Chiefs Over 36.5 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
It is very unlikely that we see starters in this matchup, as Patrick Mahomes recovers from injury and Matthew Stafford not needing to play. Stetson Bennett and Ty Simpson will lead the Rams offense, while Justin Fields, Garrett Nussmeier and Chris Oladokun will split reps for the Chiefs.
Despite both of these defenses being dangerous, I think the backups will be able to torch each other for plenty of points at Arrowhead. The weather will be nice (but hot as hell), so expect these QBs to air things out. Fields has plenty of NFL experience, so I would think he'll be able to produce some points before handing things off to the rookie from LSU.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Baltimore Ravens NFL Picks
Tyler Huntley likely sees plenty of snaps on Saturday in Baltimore's preseason opener
Best Bet: Ravens +3.5 (-105) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Baltimore announced that Lamar Jackson and other starters would not play on Saturday's preseason opener against Philadelphia. While Nick Sirianni hasn't named a starter, I'm not going to expect Jalen Hurts and company in Week 1 on the road. Get ready to see Tyler Huntley and Joe Fagnano for the Ravens, and Tanner McKee for Philly, with maybe a sprinkle of Andy Dalton.
Regardless, I like the Ravens at home, but ultimately I like this to be a low scoring game, coming down to the wire. Possibly ending on a game winning field goal. Even if the Ravens are on the losing end of that scenario, we would still cash our ticket by taking the points. Jesse Minter and Declan Doyle are installing a new system and will be working out the kinks, but I think their defense can keep them in the game.
