The Big East is certainly having a weaker season overall, but they still produce exciting basketball! Tonight, we have two teams who were ranked at one point but are now on the outside looking in of the top 25 going head to head at Madison Square Garden. The Seton Hall Pirates face the St. John's Red Storm, as Shaheen Holloway and Rick Pitino lead their squads. Can the Johnnies cover another spread? Or will the Pirates beat St. John's for the first time in three contests? Let's dive into our expert CBB picks and find out how to wager on this matchup!

Seton Hall Pirates vs. St. John's Red Storm NCAA Basketball Insights

Zuby Ejiofer and St. John's look to extend their winning streak tonight at Madison Square Garden
St. John's was ranked No. 5 to start this season, but quickly fell off. They lost their first three ranked matchups to No. 15 Alabama, to No. 15 Iowa State and then to No. 21 Auburn, all on neutral sites, although they lost to the Crimson Tide at Madison Square Garden. However, they have turned the page and are playing great basketball recently. St. John's is 6-1 in Big East play, losing only to Providence but bouncing back by winning four straight. Can they add another tonight?
Seton Hall is 14-4 on the season but just 4-3 in Big East play. Their only non conference loss was to the USC Trojans in the Maui Invitational Semifinals, beating Washington State to take third place. They lost to Villanova, won three straight, but now bring a two game losing streak into this matchup, having dropped contests to No. 3 UConn and Butler. However, I still have faith in this basketball team, and I thoroughly enjoy their style of play.

Spread
- Seton Hall +11 (-114)
- St. John's -11 (-106)
Moneyline
- Seton Hall +435
- St. John's -625
Total
- Over 145.5 (-113)
- Under 145.5 (-107)
St. John's is incredibly fast, while Seton Hall is significantly slower. I expect the Johnnies to turn up the tempo, forcing the Pirates to defend longer and more often, however that will also give Seton Hall's offense more chances as well. Which leads me to my favorite player prop in this game.
Seton Hall vs. St. John's NCAA Basketball Picks and Predictions

Budd Clark averages 4.7 assists for the Pirates so far this year, clearing this line in half of his games
Seton Hall vs. St. John's Prediction: St. John's Wins, Seton Hall Covers, Over 145.5
Best Bet: Adam Clark Over 4.5 Assists (+160) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Adam "Budd" Clark was a stud for the Merrimack Warriors last year, and now he is showing out on the Power Five level. He leads the Pirates with 4.7 assists per game, after averaging 3.9 and 6.0 in two seasons with Merrimack. Clark is a true point guard who looks to set up his teammates, and he's done a great job of doing so this season.
Sure, the Johnnies are a very good defensive team, but if you give Clark enough opportunities, he's going to find a way to get the ball to his teammates in a scoring position. He has started every game for the Pirates and leads the team in minutes, averaging 28.2, the only player to play more than 25 per game. Point being, he is always on the floor.
Now, his original line is 3.5 for -130, but I opted to take it up an assist for a bigger reward. If he ends with four, so be it, that's the risk we are taking. He's had 5+ assists in 9/18 games this year (4+ in 10/18) ending with seven in four separate games, and having as many as 12. In eight games where he has played 30+ minutes, he's cleared this line in six of those contests.
It's been four games since he's gotten over this number, but tonight against a very good St. John's team, Holloway is going to need him on the court, and I'm confident in Clark being able to create chances for his teammates.
