#25 Miami Ohio vs. Kent State Bet
Tuesday MACTION never left. We are spoiled tonight, as No. 25 Miami of Ohio heads to Kent to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes. Both teams are riding win streaks and looking to keep it rolling in conference play. With Miami now ranked inside the top 25, will that add fuel to the fire for the hometown Golden Flashes? I think it should, and I think there is a storm brewing in Ohio this evening.
The Calm Before the Storm
The RedHawks are coming off their 19th straight win after hitting a buzzer beater three to force overtime on Saturday against Buffalo. The 10.5-point favorite Miami team ended up winning 105 to 102 in one of the most exhilarating games of the weekend. What makes it even more enjoyable is that we are fading the living daylights out of that team and riding with the hometown Golden Flashes.
Not only are we fading a team off a massive emotional win, but we also get to back the Kent State faithful, who will be getting their first round of drinks for free, complimentary of head coach Rob Senderoff. The crowd may get a little sendy, am I right boys? Anyone? The Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center holds over 6,000 people. They should easily clear the 500 mark of students looking for free drinks this evening, which means there will be some extra juice in the building tonight.

So far this season in their home gym, the Golden Flashes have been one of the better offensive teams in the country. Ranked inside the top 75 in adjusted efficiency, they excel at getting to the line, knocking down their three point shots at a high rate, and cleaning the glass. Defensively, they are not the flashiest group, mainly because they are the 25th fastest team in the country. They want to score their opponents into submission. Even with a defensive ranking in the 220s, Kent State still sits inside the top 125 in blocking shots and rebounding.
Easy Schedule
The RedHawks also play at a fast pace, ranked 39th in the country, but unlike Kent State, they boast a solid defense. I would argue those defensive numbers are inflated due to an easy schedule. Miami has faced the 20th easiest schedule to this point in the season. Tonight's matchup with Kent State will be their toughest road test since December 16 against Wright State. That same Wright State team ranks 222nd in offense against top 100 opponents. Kent State, at least, sits in the 200s in strength of schedule and is 82 spots ahead of Miami in that category.
After flying a bit too close to the sun on Saturday and still sneaking past a very good Buffalo team, this feels like the spot where No. 25 Miami comes back to earth. The drinks should be flowing, the crowd should be buzzing, and fans may need to be ready to storm once the 40 minutes are up.
