Serbia vs. Canada Breakdown & Best Bets

Team Canada enters the Semi-Final as the favorite to move on.

Canada’s now secured a spot in the Paris Olympics, and their best ever FIBA World Cup ranking; and they’re still not satisfied. Having already beat two prior champs (France/Spain), they’ve got their eyes set on some hardware.

Lead by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Canadians are averaging 95 ppg through the group stage, and put up 100 on Slovenia in the quarter-final.

The Serbians are averaging just over 100 ppg with Bogdan averaging 18.8 on 49.6% shooting.

Big offense means great spot for props, let’s get into our best bets.

Serbia vs. Canada Best Bets

Shai’s got his eyes on the podium, averaging 25 on 54.7%.

Shai’s now played 34, 37, and 36 minutes in their last 3 tournament games. He’s scored 27+ points in 4 of the 6 tournament games, and gotten to the line 16 times in back to back games.

He’s also had 30+ in back to back games, only taking 12 shots in each game; and shooting 63% in that span.

Canada’s chances at a medal live and die with Shai, he’s playing the most minutes, seeing the most usage, and he’s been their most reliable scorer.

By all metrics Shai’s been the best player in the tournament. He’s eliminated the reigning champs, put up a 27 point double double on the French, and out-duelled Luka in the quarter-final.

What’s left? A podium finish.

With a chance to play for Gold on the line, expect Shai to bring out the Canadian Tuxedo.

Serbia celebrates win over Lithuania in the Semi-Final.

Bogdan has been Serbia’s best player by far. He’s averaging 18.8 and currently shooting 66% from two-point range, and 49% from the field.

He’s taken 13+ shots in 4 of the 6 games, and he’s averaging 12.5 shots/game. He was a perfect 7/7 in a blowout win vs the Dominican Republic (20 points), and 9/13 in another blowout win vs Lithuania (21 points).

Tonight’s Semi-Final against Canada should prove to be the first real test for Serbia. They’ll need to lean on their leading scorer if they want to stand a chance.

Back to back 20 point games, both in blowouts. Bogdan’s coming out to play tonight.

Shooters, shoot.
