This will actually be the seventh contest between these teams this year, and things are all tied up at three games a piece. The Cardinals hosted Chicago for a four game series in late June. After winning the first two, the hosts lost the next two as the Cubs evened things up.

A couple weeks later, here we are again, with the Cubs winning on the 4th of July, and the Cardinals getting their revenge yesterday. Now they play for all the marbles (and bragging rights) tonight at Wrigley.

Prior to beating the Cubs last night, the Cardinals had lost four straight after getting swept by the Pirates on the road. St. Louis hits .252 as a team, but that average drops to .241 on the road and .234 against left handed pitchers.

Matthew Boyd has been throwing fire for the Cubs this season, and I see him keeping it going tonight.

Cardinals vs. Cubs MLB Prediction: Cubs Win, Over 7.5

Boyd already pitched six shutout innings against the Cardinals just two starts ago. He allowed just three hits and no walks as the Cubbies won 8-0. After that more recently, he pitched against the Cleveland Guardians, earning another win. Boyd has claimed the win in three of his last four outings, having not lost since the beginning of June.

Ultimately, I trust the Cubbies a lot more in this spot, and I love to fade Fedde.

Erick Fedde got ripped apart by the Cubs in his first outing. He allowed seven runs on eight hits, including two walks and three home runs. Opposite of Boyd's trajectory, Fedde has lost two straight starts, he's held the loss in five of his last seven outings, and he hasn't had a win in nearly two months.

Give me the Cubbies to light him up in front of their home fans tonight.
