Guardians vs. Yankees Game 5 Betting: Who will move on to face the Astros in ALCS? cover

mlb

The American League Championship Series will get underway on Wednesday, but the Houston Astros are still waiting to find out who they will be going up against at Minute Maid Park. That blank will be filled in tonight, weather permitting, with the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees set for a Game 5 at Yankee Stadium.

Yesterday, Cleveland had a chance to finish off New York at home, but Gerrit Cole had his second excellent start of the series and got some valuable early run support as the Yankees stayed alive with a 4-2 win.

Harrison Bader, who had zero homers in 46 regular season at-bats with the Yankees, continues to be a surprising source of power production. In the second inning, he hit his third homer of the series, a two-run shot off of Cal Quantrill to put New York up 3-0.

Will we see any unexpected heroes tonight at Yankee Stadium? Will we even see any action tonight? Rain is in the forecast for the evening, so frayed nerves might have some extra waiting to do.

Guardians vs. Yankees Prediction: Yankees to win

Guardians vs. Yankees Best Bet: Yankees -1.5 (Best Value: +143 at Bovada Sportsbook)

In a season that has seen him struggle with injury and poor performance, Civale has the opportunity to be a hero for Cleveland tonight.

His worst start of the season came at Yankee Stadium, as he allowed six runs and seven hits in three innings in a 10-2 loss on April 24.

But after allowing at least four runs in his first six starts this season, he allowed more than two runs only four times in his final 14 starts in the regular season.

But I like the Yankees to take the win and the series tonight at home. Taillon took the loss in relief in Game 2, allowing two runs and three hits without recording an out in the 10th.

But as a starter, he has been tough to beat overall and at home this season. The Yankees went 24-8 in his regular season starts, including a 12-4 record in his 16 home starts.

I'm hesitant with jumping on a run line in a game like this, but I like the value here. Of the Yankees' 24 wins in Taillon's regular season starts, 17 came by 2+ runs, including eight of 12 home wins.
