The Detroit Tigers and Atlanta Braves begin their only series of the regular season tonight at Truist Park. Both teams lead their divisions at the moment and are coming off of a win. However Detroit leads the AL Central with just a 15-14 record. The Braves are one of three teams that still have a single digit in the loss column. Can the Tigers take down the hosts and give them their 10th L of the season? Find out below with our MLB picks.

Casey Mize gets the start tonight in Atlanta. He's pitched well so far this year, but how will he do facing the Braves' red hot offense?
Like I eluded to above, the Braves have been much better than the Tigers. They are 20-9 on the season, 10-2 in their last 12 games and are 10-5 at home. Detroit is just 15-14 (which is enough to lead the Central), but are just 5-5 in their last 10 and 5-12 on the road this year. Things are grim for Detroit.
Atlanta has a very comfortable lead in the NL East, leading by seven games over the Marlins and Nationals. They are second in the MLB with a +65 run differential this season, absolutely leaving teams in the dust. If you want specifics, they are scoring 5.7 runs per game while allowing just 3.49. Will they be able to keep it up tonight?

The Braves have been the better team all year long, and I believe we are getting them at a discount tonight. I would price this closer to -145 or so, therefore getting more than 20 cents off is a steal. For me, it all comes down to the splits.
Martin Perez has been dealing this year. In his last home outing, he allowed just one run on two hits in five innings, and in his other start at Truist Park he went 4.1 scoreless, allowing just two hits and no walks. He has a sub 1.00 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP at home. And tonight he faces a team that severely struggles on the road.
The Tigers hit .253 as a team this season. But on the road their average drops to .239 and against lefties they hit just .221. While Casey Mize has had some good outings on the road, I'm not sure how much run support he'll be getting tonight. Atlanta hits .274 overall, .273 against RHP but jump to .290 at home this year, hence the 10-5 record. I believe their offense should have no problem getting around the bases, then we just need the southpaw Perez to do his job.
