Braves vs. Phillies (June 30): Acuna, Anderson & Atlanta aim for sweep in Philadelphia

Entering June, the Atlanta Braves were 10.5 games behind the New York Mets in the NL East. If the reigning World Series champions finish off a road sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, they will end June having trimmed a full eight games off of the Mets' lead in the division.
Following last night's 4-1 win, Atlanta is now 21-5 in June with one game remaining, after winning just 23 games combined in April and May.
After getting a gem from Kyle Wright to lock up the series win last night, the Braves will turn to Ian Anderson to try to complete the sweep.
Most of Anderson's success this season has been on the road, and he'll be counted on to keep that success going tonight opposite Aaron Nola, who has been outstanding on the mound in recent weeks and was dominant in a win in Atlanta last month.

Can Nola Shut Down Atlanta Again?
After allowing three or more runs five times in his first nine starts, he has done so in just one of his last six starts.
Nola has pitched at least seven innings in five of those six starts, including a hard-luck loss in San Diego this past Friday. Nola allowed just one run and struck out ten in seven innings, but the Phillies were blanked by rookie McKenzie Gore and the Padres bullpen.
To add a little amusing insult to injury, the lone run was driven in by none other than his older brother Austin, via an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
In his last four starts, Nola has allowed just three runs, 22 hits, and three walks and struck out 30 in 30 innings.
When he last faced the Braves, he was on top of his game, going a season-high 8.1 innings and striking out ten while allowing just one run and five hits (and no walks) in a 4-1 win at Truist Park on May 26.
But he didn't have to face Ronald Acuna Jr. in that game, and he will have to do so tonight. Acuna, who missed Atlanta's last three games with a foot injury, will be back in the lineup tonight.
He has had the upper hand in his career matchups with Nola, going 11 for 29 (.379) with three doubles, three homers, and five RBI. So has Austin Riley, who is 11 for 31 (.355) against Nola and also has three homers, three doubles, and five RBI against him.

In the first two games of this series, the Phillies have not fared too well against two right-handed starting pitchers in Charlie Morton and Kyle Wright. Bryce Harper's absence leaves a pretty glaring hole for the Phillies, given that he is hitting .332 (166 for 500) with 47 doubles, one triple, 44 homers, and 107 at-bats against righties since the start of the 2021 season.
It's hard to see things changing for the Phillies tonight against Anderson, whose OBA is 48 points lower on the road (.235) than at home (.283) and 62 points lower in day games (.213) than night games (.275).
Nola has certainly been fantastic lately, but the Braves offer excellent value here, especially with Acuna back in the lineup and facing a pitcher he has owned.
