The Atlanta Braves beat the brakes off of the Cincinnati Reds in their first meeting of the season last night at Great American Ball Park. They are running away with the NL East and the rest of the league, as a win tonight for the visitors could make them the first team with 40 so far this season. Spoiler alert… I see it happening. Atlanta has been absolutely incredible this year, and it's tough to have the guts to fade them. But let's break this game down between Martin Perez and Brady Singer to find out favorite MLB picks.

Atlanta is on a two game winning streak, they are 7-3 in their last 10, 17-9 during the month of May, and lead the MLB with a 39-19 record. Plus they are 22-9 on the road. This team leads the NL East by nearly 10 games and we're still very early on in the season. Needless to say, Atlanta is rolling.
Cincinnati is slipping down the NL Central, sitting in fourth place, six games behind the division leading Milwaukee Brewers. They are third worst in the National League in runs allowed this year, and the offense hasn't been giving the pitching staff much help. Will Brady Singer be able to shut down the red hot Braves tonight at home?

Braves vs. Reds Prediction: Braves Win and Cover, Over 9.5

The Braves are one of three teams in the MLB to have scored over 300 total runs this season, ranking in the top five over the past two weeks as well. Tonight I think they should have no problem producing offense against Singer, who isn't in the best form, and has had a questionable year anyways.
The former Royal's splits do slightly improve at home, but he's been getting lit up recently. Singer has allowed at least three earned runs in all four of his May starts, five of his last six overall, and in seven of his 10 outings this year. He's allowed at least two earned runs in nine of 10. That's not going to cut it. Not only that, but a lot of them have been bombs, giving up 14 total home runs this year, nine of which have happened, you guessed it, in his last four starts (11 in his last five).
The kid has an 8.47 ERA this month with a 1.82 WHIP, and he gives up a homer every other inning. Good luck facing the Braves, you'll need it.
As for Cincy, their batting average does improve slightly against lefties, but not at home. Perez has had his struggles on the road this year, but regardless, the Braves' bats should light it up enough to cover the run line.
