MLS

I can't believe we're already in August.

The European season is only a few weeks away, and before long we'll be back to a full schedule of football every weekend. Until then, we have another loaded MLS slate on tap tonight.

Most clubs should be well rested with no midweek fixtures. The only exception might be a few players who featured in Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game.

One thing we've seen over the last few weeks is the market adjusting. Several players we've been backing consistently have seen their prices shorten, just as we expected. That means it's time to find the next wave of value.

Let's get into my favorite plays for tonight.

Featured Plays

Kevin Denkey (FC Cincinnati) Anytime Goalscorer

There may not be a hotter striker in MLS right now than Kevin Denkey.

He's scored in three straight matches and has found the net in seven of his last nine. Earlier this season, Denkey said he was chasing the Golden Boot, and he's backing up those words with his play.

He currently sits sixth in the race, just two goals behind league leader Petar Musa.

I'm also going right back to targeting this San Jose defense.

The Earthquakes have regressed significantly over the last month. They look much more like the team we saw last season than the one that started this year.

They're conceding quality chances at an alarming rate, and oddsmakers clearly expect goals again tonight.

The total is sitting at 3.5, while Cincinnati are averaging three goals per match at home.

If FC Cincinnati hit their usual numbers, Denkey should be right in the middle of the action.

He's the focal point of this attack, and I like his chances to extend his scoring streak.

Play: Kevin Denkey Anytime Goalscorer (-110)

Milan Iloski (Philadelphia Union) Anytime Goalscorer

Milan Iloski will look to stay hot for a Union side that is well in form right now.

We're going right back to Milan Iloski this weekend.

Last Saturday we backed his To Score or Assist prop at +145. I mentioned then that the number felt soft, and sure enough, that same market has already moved to around -170.

That's exactly why it's important to grab value before the books adjust.

Philadelphia are back at home against an Atlanta side that simply hasn't looked good.

Atlanta were completely outplayed by New England last weekend, and now they head to Philadelphia to face one of the hottest teams in MLS.

Iloski has scored in five straight matches and is playing with a ton of confidence.

I also think the Union are set up for a huge second half of the season.

Atlanta rank near the bottom of MLS in several key defensive metrics. They've also been conceding most of their goals from inside the penalty area.

That's exactly where Iloski does his best work.

We aren't getting his To Score or Assist prop at plus money anymore, but I still think this goalscorer price offers plenty of value.

Play: Milan Iloski Anytime Goalscorer (+145)

Son Heung-min (LAFC) To Score or Assist

No one hotter than Sonny right now, can he keep the form?

Son is back.

Before the World Cup, neither he nor LAFC looked like themselves. Since returning from the break, both have completely flipped the script.

Son has scored in all three league matches since MLS resumed. He also found the net twice in just 35 minutes during Wednesday's All-Star Game.

Now, there is a chance Dos Santos manages his minutes after the All-Star festivities.

As always, make sure your sportsbook voids non-starters if you're betting before lineups are announced.

If Son starts, though, I love this number.

Vancouver haven't been playing their best football lately, and they've also lost a key piece in Sebastian Berhalter. That's a significant blow to both their midfield and overall balance.

This match will be played under the roof at BC Place, which is a venue I often target for goals. The fast playing surface tends to produce quicker matches and more attacking opportunities.

There's also plenty on the line.

The winner will move to the top of the Western Conference, so I expect both teams to come out with real intent.

With Son back in top form, I like him to stay involved and contribute to another LAFC goal or assist.

Play: Son Heung-min To Score or Assist (+100)
