Our first Liga MX article of 2026 is here!

I'll be covering some of my favorite Liga MX plays throughout the season, so be sure to check the website regularly and follow along on all of our social channels.

If you're new to Liga MX, you're in for a treat. It's one of the most entertaining leagues in the world, with some of the most passionate supporters you'll find anywhere. The atmospheres are incredible, and winning on the road is never easy.

Let's dive into tonight's favorite plays.

Puebla vs. Chivas Over 2.75 Goals

If you're unfamiliar with this market, it's called an Asian Total. Not every sportsbook offers it, but it's one of my favorite ways to attack goal totals.

Here's how Over 2.75 Goals works.

Your wager is split into two equal bets. Half goes on Over 2.5 Goals, and the other half goes on Over 3 Goals.

If exactly three goals are scored, you win the Over 2.5 portion and push the Over 3 portion. If the match finishes with four or more goals, you cash the full bet.

The biggest advantage is the price.

Instead of laying around -190 on Over 2.5, we're only laying -120 while getting very similar exposure. Over the long run, I'd rather avoid paying heavy juice whenever possible.

Now, onto the match.

Puebla return home for their first home match of the 2026 season, and the atmosphere should be outstanding.

I expect plenty of energy from the home supporters.

Puebla had a disappointing campaign last year, and while they'll be motivated to respond, I'm not convinced they improved enough during the offseason to make a significant leap.

I still expect them to struggle over the course of the season.

That said, home openers are different.

I think they can contribute offensively in front of their fans.

On the other side, I believe Chivas have one of the best attacking units in Liga MX.

They have multiple dangerous forwards, a midfield capable of controlling possession, and plenty of creativity in the final third.

There's a realistic path where Chivas threaten this total by themselves.

I expect the visitors to control large stretches of the match, but I also like Puebla to find the net at least once.

My projected score is either 2-1 or 3-1 in favor of Chivas.

Armando González Anytime Goalscorer

Can Armando get his first goal of the 2026/27 season tonight on the road?

This play goes hand in hand with my outlook on the match above.

I expect Chivas to score multiple goals, which naturally puts Armando González near the top of my player prop list.

González finished last season as one of Liga MX's top scorers, recording 24 goals in 35 appearances.

We're only two matches into the new season, so there's not much data to work with yet.

Even so, he looked dangerous in Chivas' last match.

The club generated 2.16 expected goals, while González accounted for 0.55 expected goals on his own. He also came inches away from scoring when his header crashed off the crossbar.

He's simply a natural finisher.

Once he gets touches inside the penalty area, he's always a threat to put one away.

This feels like an excellent opportunity for him to open his account for the new season.

I also don't expect this price to last very long.

If he starts finishing the chances he's already creating, the books will adjust quickly.

I'd rather grab the plus money now before that happens.
