NFL Week 1 is back and we have an AFC West rivalry matchup to start things off as the Denver Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sean Payton begins his reign as the Head Coach of the Broncos at home against a division rivalry. He and Russell Wilson will look to start this 2023 campaign off on the right foot, as they hope to be back in the playoffs in January.
The Raiders get their first look as Jimmy Garoppolo takes over to command this Raiders' offense.
The pressure is on for both of these guys. They have both been brought in to bring this program back to the fore front of the National Football League.
If they can't do that, then what good are they?
Pressure is also on Jimmy G. He lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl, but couldn't get the win, and much of that playoff success could be credited to their defense.
Regardless, both QBs will look to show out for their squads.
I lean slightly with the Broncos, simply because I think they finish on top of the Raiders in the West, but not enough to back them laying 3.5.
The ML is also too steep for me, so I'll just stick to props here.
Player Props
Jimmy Garoppolo over 227.5 Passing Yards (-115) Bovada
Yes, he's on a new team with a new offense, but the Raiders will probably look to throw the ball plenty when they are behind.
Garoppolo cleared this line in 7/11 games last year, including a game with 222. He also cleared in 4/5 away games, including four straight.
With over 25 attempts and 20 completions in his L3 road games, I don't see Jimmy having a problem getting over this number.
Assuming the Broncos jump out to a lead, Garoppolo may touch 275.
Jakobi Meyers Anytime Touchdown (+300) Bovada
Jakobi Meyers hasn't played a snap for the Raiders yet, so he and Jimmy can deal with the nerves together and connect on a touchdown pass.
This guy is a Red Zone threat, and helps for the loss of Darren Waller. He also takes some pressure of of Davante Adams to always be the guy.
Meyers had 6 TDs last year, and scored in 3 straight games to end the year. He scored twice in away games, including the very last game against Buffalo.
For this price, I think +300 is worth a sprinkle for this guy to get involved early.
