You've found our Eagles vs. Commanders prediction and expert picks for Sunday! The Eagles get a familiar NFC East opponent to open the season, but there are real questions on both sidelines. Washington needs to keep Jayden Daniels upright against Philadelphia's defensive front, while the Eagles are beginning life after A.J. Brown and breaking in a new offensive play-caller.
Philadelphia is a 5.5-point home favorite, and the Eagles-Commanders expert picks conversation starts in the trenches. Washington has more firepower than people may give it credit for, but the Commanders' offensive line could make this a long afternoon if Daniels is constantly forced to create outside of structure.

Eagles vs. Commanders Prediction and Expert Picks for Sunday (Sept. 13)
The Eagles are favored by 5.5 points at home, while the 44-point total suggests oddsmakers expect a fairly competitive divisional matchup. That makes sense. Philadelphia has the more stable roster and home field, but Jayden Daniels is the kind of quarterback who can keep a game alive even when everything around him gets messy.
Washington gave Daniels more help this offseason by adding Stefon Diggs alongside Terry McLaurin. Those are two legitimate perimeter threats, and Daniels has the athleticism to buy time and create explosive plays when the pocket breaks down.
That is also the concern. The Eagles' defensive line is one of the few groups capable of making Daniels spend most of the afternoon playing Houdini. If Washington cannot consistently protect him, it will be hard for the Commanders to get the ball out on time and allow Diggs and McLaurin to make an impact.
Philadelphia is not without its own uncertainty. The Eagles are entering a new era with Sean Mannion calling plays following Kevin Patullo's departure, and the offense must adjust without Brown. DeVonta Smith is now in line to operate as the clear top wide receiver, with Dallas Goedert remaining an important security blanket for Jalen Hurts.

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL Predictions for Week 1
Daniels enters the season healthy after an injury-plagued year, which is huge for the Commanders. His ability to extend plays is why I have some interest in Washington catching 5.5 points. Division games are usually tighter than expected, and Daniels is capable of dragging the Commanders into a fourth-quarter game.
Still, Washington's offensive line is the biggest concern in this Eagles vs. Commanders preview. The Eagles can generate pressure without selling out in coverage, and that is exactly the kind of defense that can derail a young quarterback before the skill players have an opportunity to win their matchups.
Philadelphia's defensive front is a legitimate mismatch, but the Eagles should also have a chance to establish Saquon Barkley. Lucky Rebel lists Barkley's rushing prop at 77.5 yards, and Philadelphia would be happy to play from ahead and let its star running back control the tempo.
The more interesting number for this Eagles vs. Commanders prediction, though, is Smith's receiving prop at 66.5 yards. Smith is stepping into a bigger role with Brown gone, and this is a promising Week 1 matchup for a receiver who should see much more of the passing-game volume.
Washington struggled against opposing receivers last season, particularly in the slot and after the catch. Smith ran nearly 60% of his routes from the slot last year, giving Hurts multiple ways to get him involved with quick throws, crossers, screens, and intermediate targets over the middle.
Smith has grown substantially since his first opportunity to be Philadelphia's primary receiver. He will have support from Goedert, Barkley, and a developing group of complementary receivers, but the Eagles' new No. 1 wideout should be the most reliable target in high-leverage moments.

Best Eagles vs. Commanders Bet: DeVonta Smith Over 66.5 Receiving Yards | Lucky Rebel
My favorite Eagles vs. Commanders expert pick is for DeVonta Smith to go over 66.5 receiving yards.
This is not simply a case of betting Smith because Brown is no longer in Philadelphia. Barkley should remain central to the Eagles' offensive identity, and the home team could lean heavily on the running game if it establishes an early lead.
Still, Smith is now the clearest candidate to inherit the consistent target volume Brown previously commanded. Goedert will have a meaningful role, and Dontayvion Wicks could see more snaps than expected early in the season, but Smith is the player Hurts should trust most when Philadelphia needs a first down.
The matchup makes this number more appealing. Washington was vulnerable to opposing receivers last year and had particular issues with slot usage and yards after the catch. Smith's versatility gives him several paths to clear this total without needing a massive downfield performance.
I don't hate the Commanders at +5.5. Daniels is talented enough to keep this Eagles-Commanders game competitive, even if Washington has to survive some pressure up front.
But Smith's role is easier to project than the final score. Philadelphia needs its top receiver to make an early statement, and a 66.5-yard line is not asking him to do too much in a favorable matchup.
