Bears vs. Panthers Prediction and Expert Picks for Sunday (Sept. 13)

Panthers vs. Bears Prediction for Week 1- 9/13/26

The Bears are 3-point road favorites in Carolina, with the total set at 47 points. Chicago has the more exciting offense on paper, but laying a full field goal on the road in Week 1 is not always as simple as betting the team with more offseason hype.

Ben Johnson has big expectations in Year 2. The Bears want to score points, and they have the pieces to do it. Caleb Williams has another year in the system, while Luther Burden and Colston Loveland add even more young firepower to a group that already includes Rome Odunze, D'Andre Swift, and Kyle Monangai.

That is why the Bears have become such a popular side. But oddsmakers kept this number at 3 for a reason.

Chicago's defense was banged up during training camp, and the unit still has more questions than the offense. The Bears could certainly come out and score 30 points. But there is also a realistic path where this game is much closer than the public expects.

Plenty of analysts are down on the Panthers entering the season too. Still, this is not a team completely devoid of hope. Dave Canales is back, Bryce Young enters another year as the starting quarterback, and Tetairoa McMillan is now in his sophomore campaign. The Panthers also have Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks available in the backfield, which should give the offense some needed balance.

Let's not forget how close they were to knocking out the Rams, the 2026 Super Bowl favorites, during last year's postseason.

Bears vs. Panthers Game Preview – 9/13/26

The Bears have exciting offensive pieces and massive expectations under Ben Johnson, but this Bears-Panthers matchup could get muddy in a hurry. Carolina has continuity, a capable quarterback, and a defensive approach that could create problems for Caleb Williams in his first game of the season.

Bears vs. Panthers Notable Player Props

Lucky Rebel's Bears vs. Panthers player-prop menu has a few intriguing numbers for Week 1:

  • Luther Burden III over 55.5 receiving yards (-113)
  • Colston Loveland over 53.5 receiving yards (-113)
  • D'Andre Swift anytime touchdown (-143)
  • Chuba Hubbard anytime touchdown (+125)
  • Tetairoa McMillan anytime touchdown (+170)
  • Kyle Monangai anytime touchdown (+230)

Swift is the most likely Bears player to score, and the price reflects that. But Monangai is the more interesting value option, especially if Chicago gets inside the 5-yard line.

Bears vs. Panthers Preview: NFL Predictions for Week 1

The Bears' offense has the potential to be very good. Johnson has a deep group of young weapons, and Williams can make plays both in and out of structure. But this is still Week 1, and it is still a road game.

Carolina has an interesting defensive wrinkle that could matter. According to Fantasy Points, the Panthers disguised coverage more frequently than any defense in the NFL last season, creating confusing pre-snap pictures for opposing quarterbacks. Williams struggled against disguised looks last year but was much more effective against static coverage.

That does not mean Williams cannot handle Carolina's defense. It does mean the Panthers have a way to make a quarterback uncomfortable, particularly early in a season when timing and communication are not always perfect.

The Panthers can also keep this matchup competitive if Young plays efficiently and the backfield holds up its end of the bargain. Hubbard is a reliable runner, Brooks adds another dimension–if healthy–and McMillan gives Young a legitimate target who could take a major step forward this season.

That is a reasonable path in a game where the Bears are getting almost all of the public attention.

Panthers vs. Bears Best Bet for Week 1

NFL Predictions Week 1 for Panthers vs. Bears

Panthers vs. Bears Expert Pick: Panthers +3 (-110) | Lucky Rebel

My prediction is for the Panthers to cover +3 against the Bears.

Chicago deserves its offseason praise. Williams has the talent to become a star, Johnson has an offense loaded with skill players, and the Bears could be one of the most entertaining teams in football this season.

But the public enthusiasm has pushed this Bears-Panthers conversation toward Chicago without fully considering the spot. The Bears are on the road in Week 1, their defense has questions, and they are facing a Panthers team with more continuity than it is getting credit for.

I expect Chicago to be solid. I also expect Carolina to have enough answers to stay within one possession.

Give me the Panthers +3.

Bears vs. Panthers Touchdown Prop: Kyle Monangai Anytime TD

Best Bet: Kyle Monangai Anytime Touchdown (+230) | Lucky Rebel

Kyle Monangai anytime touchdown at +230 is one of my favorite Bears vs. Panthers player props.

Monangai missed time during camp after suffering a knee injury, but he returned to practice before the opener. His health is worth monitoring, but the pricing is too appealing to ignore if he is active and available for his regular role.

Swift is the clear favorite to score at -143, and he should lead Chicago's backfield in overall touches. But touchdown betting is not always about playing the obvious favorite. It is about identifying players with a realistic role near the goal line at a number that gives you room for error.

Monangai filled a meaningful complementary role behind Swift last season and played 50% of Chicago's available snaps inside the 5-yard line when he was active. The Bears have enough offensive talent to create scoring chances, and Monangai does not need a huge workload to cash this bet. He needs one close-range opportunity.

At +230, that is a price worth taking. Give me Kyle Monangai to score a touchdown.
