NFL Preseason Week 3 Preview & Best Bets: We’re Ready For the Real Deal

Week 3 of the NFL Preseason is finally here and we are itching for the regular season. This weekend concludes the last set of preseason games before we get the real deal games starting on Thursday, September 7th in Kansas City.
We've got our best bets for this weekend's action as we expect starters to play the most minutes we've seen all season.
Let's get into this NFL action.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Preview
We've got a full weekend of football.
- Two games Thursday Night
- Three games Friday Night
- Ten on Saturday, and
- One game on Sunday to wrap it up
Let's take a look at some of our best bets for the weekend football action.
Friday Night Lights
Los Angeles Chargers @ San Francisco 49ers
Matchup Information
- Venue & Location: Levi's Stadium (Santa Clara, CA)
- Date: Friday, August 25th, 2023
- Kick Off: 10:00pm Eastern
- Broadcast: NFL Network
The Pick: Chargers/49ers over 37.5 (-110) BetOnline
With the regular season in sight, I expect the starters to play a lot of downs in this game.
Both of these defense are exceptional, and I think they can hold each other under 20 points. I see this being a boring, slow paced 14-10 victory for whomever holds the ball last.
With the 49ers moving forward with Brock Purdy, they will heavily rely on their defense and skill players to carry them this season.
The test against Herbert and the Chargers is perfect to get the Niners defense locked in for another season.
Saturday Week 3 Preseason
New York Jets @ New York Giants

For the last week of preseason action, we get the Battle of the Big Apple, as the Jets and Giants square off.
There is plenty of hype surrounding the Jets after signing Aaron Rodgers, but people forget Daniel Jones led this Giants team to a playoff victory last year. With the addition of Darren Waller, this offense could surprise some people.
Do I think either New York team is a Super Bowl contender? Absolutely not.
But the Giants could very well sneak into the playoffs, which will be easier for them than the Jets who have the play the Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots twice.
I like Jones and company to keep it within a touchdown on Saturday evening.
Miami Dolphins @ Jacksonville Jaguars

In the battle of Florida to wrap up Week 3, I like the Dolphins to cover and win outright.
They have tons of speed on the outside, and there defense is stacked as well.
With Bradley Chubb providing pressure on the QB, and DBs Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey on the back side, I could see the Dolphins making a playoff run.
This week they get the upset against a Jaguars team who yes, won a playoff game last year, but also relied heavily on the performance of Trevor Lawrence.
I sense some regression from him and the Jaguars as Miami surprises them in this game.
Sunday Night Football
Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints

- Date: Sunday, August 27th, 2023
- Kick Off: 7:00pm Eastern
- Broadcast: FOX
The Pick: New Orleans -3 (-107) BetOnline
This one doesn't need much selling, it's the Saints at home against the sorry Texans.
Derek Carr has looked great so far, and I expect him to shine before he misses Kamara for three weeks of the regular season.
Stroud will improve the Texans offense, but I think the Saints defense at home is too much for the rookie.
Gimme the Saints to win by a touchdown to cap off the preseason.
