Sunday Night Football brings us a divisional matchup to close out the day's Week 8 action. These two teams actually already met in Week 1, but now the hosts are looking for some revenge. Earlier this year, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in a close game at Lincoln Financial Field, with a final score of 24-22. But tonight, the two go head to head at Northwest Stadium. Will the hosts get a much needed win? Or will Philly complete the season sweep of their divisional rival? Find out with our expert NFL picks below.

Jayden Daniels and the Commanders are looking for just their second win of the season tonight

Both teams are very depleted, so let's start by listed who won't be on the field. For the Eagles, obviously they are missing Jalen Hurts. They are also down a couple of offensive linemen since they last played the Commanders. On top of that, wide receiver's DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks remain sidelined, as well as LB Jihaad Campbell.

For the Commanders, they will have Jayden Daniels, but he won't have Scary Terry McLaurin or Jacory Croskey-Merritt. With both offenses beat up, how do we expect either to move the ball?

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL Analysis and Insights

We saw a sloppy, lower scoring game that still managed to go over the total in Week 1. Will we see something similar? At this point, I certainly don't trust either defense to slow down their opponent, even if both offenses are weaker than we would expect.

Typically I am all over these divisional games with low totals, but so far this season, the data doesn't back it up. I'm certainly a guy that trusts the data, so instead, I'll be forced to go against my better nature and take the opposite play in this spot.

Not only did the Eagles and Commanders go over the total the last time they played, but Washington has gone over in all three of their divisional games this year. Philadelphia has also gone over in their two NFC East divisional contests. Overall, the entire division is 5-0 to the over so far this year.

Compare that to the overall percentage, where divisional over are hitting just under 60%, and I think we have to back points. The Eagles are giving up 25 points per game, allowing at least 20+ in six of seven this year, giving up 19 in the anomaly. As for the Commanders, they are second worst in points allowed per game this year, giving up well over 28. So far this year, they have allowed at least 22 points in every single contest. It's also worth noting that in six primetime divisional contests, the over is 4-2 this year.

Tonight, it's not rocket science, and we aren't reinventing the wheel. I just think both defenses are going to continue to struggle, while these offenses, partially depleted, keep getting used to putting up points without their studs.
