Points and wins don't have the same importance in the NFL preseason that they do in the regular season. Still, Bryce Young might have been a bit disappointed to come away with no points in his first real action with the Carolina Panthers last week.
In last Saturday's 27-0 loss to the visiting New York Jets, Young went 4 of 6 for 21 yards and was sacked once in three drives before giving way to Matt Corral.
Neither he nor Corral were able to produce any points while the Jets and their quarterback duo of Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle helped the Jets outgain the Panthers 333-165.
This week, Carolina is in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on MetLife Stadium's other residents, the Giants.
Like the Panthers, the Giants opened the NFL preseason with a loss last week. Last Friday, they fell to the Lions in Detroit by a score of 21-16.
This week will bring more valuable experience for Young, but will it bring points?

Expect Little Scoring at MetLife Stadium
It remains to be seen how much action Young will get in tonight's game, but more than three drives would seem likely.
In his three drives against the Jets, Young and the Panthers got no further than their own 39-yard line. Corral did take Carolina into enemy territory three times in the second half, but those drives ended with two failed fourth-down conversions and a game-ending interception.
So, even a field goal this week would be an improvement. That was all that the Giants allowed in the first half of their game against the Lions. At halftime, the Giants led 13-3, but they were outscored 18-3 in the second half.
Though their points dried up in the second half, they did do their part to help the game go just over the total of 35.5.
In Brian Daboll's short tenure as head coach, all four of the Giants' preseason games have gone over. Also, New York has failed to cover the spread in all four.

In preseason games, or at least the first couple of preseason games when starters aren't going to be playing much, there aren't a lot of things to latch on to trend or advantage wise. So, those two trends are worth noting and backing here.
