Cardinals vs. Rams (NFL Week 10) Betting: Will the champs look more competent on offense this week?

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals finished first and second in the NFC West and met in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

With half of the regular season remaining this season, none of those outcomes look particularly promising as the two teams prepare for their Week 10 matchup at SoFi Stadium.

When the two teams met at State Farm Stadium in Week 3, the Rams picked up a 20-12 win behind touchdown runs by Cooper Kupp and Cam Akers.

Since then, the reigning Super Bowl champions have won just one time in five games. This past Sunday, they were on course for a morale-boosting in Tampa Bay, but Tom Brady rallied the Bucs for a win in the final seconds.

The Cardinals continue to struggle to win close games, as they shot themselves in the foot with penalties and couldn't get off of the field when they needed to in a 31-21 loss at home to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.

If either of these teams is to end up in the postseason this season or even make a run at the NFC West title, this is a must-win game of the highest order.

Cardinals vs. Rams Prediction and Best Bets

Prediction: Rams to win

To say that the Rams looked absolutely inept on offense over their last two games against the 49ers and Bucs is an understatement.

In their 31-14 loss to the 49ers, they managed just 223 yards on 56 plays, an average of just four yards per play. They managed to fare even worse against the Bucs with just nine first downs and 206 yards on 55 plays, an average of 3.7 yards per play.

Matthew Stafford at least hasn't thrown an interception in his last two games after throwing at least one in five of his first six games this season, but he has just one 300-yard game this season and has as many interceptions (eight) as touchdown passes.

And the less said about their ground game–which is 31st in the NFL in yards per carry (3.2) and yards per game (68.4) –the better.

The bar is extremely low for offensive improvement against the Cardinals, but it is positive that in the Week 3 win at Arizona, Stafford averaged a season-high ten yards per attempt and the ground game averaged five yards per carry.

After beating the Saints in Week 7 and pushing the Vikings in a Week 8 loss, I had some optimism that the Cardinals might be moving in the right direction.

But Arizona keeps losing winnable games, and I have no real faith that they are going to beat or even cover against a superior team–even if that superior team is struggling mightily–on the road on Sunday.
