Texas A&M was absolutely embarrassed by the Miami Hurricanes in last year's College Football Playoff, losing 10-3 on their own turf. After an 11-0 start to the season, they lost two consecutive games to watch their National Title hopes come crashing down. This year, with a new offensive coordinator, the Aggies and Mike Elko are looking to get right back into the mix. But what do our experts think about their win total this season? Texas A&M Aggies Football Team Preview & Schedule
Rueben Owens had 769 all purpose yards for the Aggies last year, with five total touchdowns
Aggies Offense
Offensively, the Aggies only return four starters from last year's squad. However, they picked up six other starters in the portal. Marcel Reed starts at quarterback, Rueben Owens will be the starting running back, and Mario Craver returns as the main wide out. Ultimately, this Aggies' offense is going to take a step back. Not only do they have a lot of new pieces to fit in, but they will be without offensive coordinator Collin Klein, who took the head coaching job at Kansas State. Can Texas A&M's offense be as productive as last year? I don't think so.
Aggies Defense
Defensively, they will be fine per usual. This unit returns five starters and picked up three more in the portal. While the front seven may be a little more questionable than in past seasons, the secondary should be elite. Definitely good enough to keep a struggling offense in games. Phil Steele has the Aggies has the No. 22 defensive line, No. 19 linebacking unit, while the secondary is ranked No. 7 nationally.

This is a daunting schedule, playing every single week in September and October without any breaks. However, they have four tough games to end the year after their bye, and even before I could see at least a couple of losses.

Texas A&M Aggies Record Prediction: 8-4 (5-4)
Best Bet: Texas A&M Aggies Under 8.5 Wins (-120) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
The Aggies should win all of their non conference games against Missouri State, Arizona State and The Citadel. But all we need is four losses, and I think I can find them. The Aggies have to go to Baton Rouge early in the year, and play Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Both could be losses, and I think they will be. They also end the season facing Oklahoma on the road, and then hosting Big Brother. I also see those as potential losses, giving us the four we need.
But even if they pull out a win against those four teams, I wouldn't count out at Missouri, at South Carolina, or hosting Tennessee as guaranteed victories. Mizzou might be frisky this year, and South Carolina led the Aggies 30-0 at halftime in College Station last year, before losing 31-30. Lastly, I'm not sure what to expect from the Vols, but there are no easy games in the SEC.
Point being, with the offense certainly taking a step back, and the defense not being as good as past seasons, things could be rough for the Aggies. I see them losing at least four games, cashing us on their win total under.
