Can Graham Ike and Gonzaga win a second straight WCC Championship? NCAA Basketball Picks

The West Coast Conference Tournament begins on Thursday in Sin City, and it will take a miracle for anyone to take down Gonzaga. Not only are they automatically in the tournament semifinals for winning the regular season, but they are an incredibly juicy favorite to win two straight games and be the automatic qualifier for this league. But we still have to take a look at the bracket as a whole, and see if there are any picks and futures worth betting on in this tournament.

West Coast Conference Tournament – Bracket & Betting Odds

Can anyone take down Gonzaga in the 2026 West Coast Conference Tournament? - West Coast Conference Tournament Picks

Can anyone take down Gonzaga in the 2026 West Coast Conference Tournament?

Much like the Sun Belt, we have a VERY lopsided conference tournament. The Zags and Gaels are basically shoe-ins to make the tournament championship game next Tuesday, and to be honest, I don't see anyone standing in their way. Based on the odds, neither do the books.

  • Gonzaga -210
  • Saint Mary's +160
  • Santa Clara +750
  • Pacific +10000
  • San Francisco +10000
  • Seattle +10000
  • Washington State +10000
  • Oregon State +25000
  • Loyola Marymount +50000
  • Pepperdine +50000
  • Portland +50000
  • San Diego +50000

Does anyone have a guess as to the last time a team not named Gonzaga or Saint Mary's won this tournament? You have to go all the way back to 2008, when the San Diego Toreros took down the top seeded Bulldogs in the championship. Since that season, the conference tournament has been hosted at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, and no one other than the Zags or Gaels has won the competition.

In fact, Gonzaga has won 13 of the last 17 West Coast Conference tournaments. Utter dominance, and for good reason. Every year, they are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. Now, the BYU Cougars made a couple of title games in 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2021, but they were beaten by the Bulldogs in every meeting.

When was the last time the West Coast Conference Tournament didn't have either Gonzaga or Saint Mary's in the championship? It hasn't happened in my lifetime. Back in 1994, Pepperdine beat San Diego to punch their ticket to the Big Dance. Point being, this conference has been a two horse race for quite some time, and I don't see it changing this year.

West Coast Conference Tournament Picks and Predictions

Braden Huff and Gonzaga are the clear betting favorite to win the West Coast Conference Tournament - West Coast Conference Tournament

Braden Huff and Gonzaga are the clear betting favorite to win the West Coast Conference Tournament

To be honest, there is no best bet to win this conference tournament. It's going to be Gonzaga… again. And no one should be laying the -210 to do so. Even betting Saint Mary's at +160 isn't worth it in my opinion, because playing with some hypothetical scenarios, I would expect the Gaels ML in the title game to be around that price. So why pay it now when they need to win an extra game?

At home against the Gaels, Gonzaga was an 8.5 point favorite, but failed to cover, winning by eight exactly. In the season finale, they were still 1.5 point favorites on the road, but lost by 11. Even on a neutral site, the Zags should be AT LEAST 3.5 point favorites over the Gaels, which would make them roughly +155 to +160 on the moneyline.

Again, you can bet the +160 now, but you'll likely be able to get virtually the same number in the championship once they make it there. If for whatever reason you think San Francisco or Oregon State can upset Gonzaga, by all means, take the Gaels now, as they would be favored over both of those teams. However, it's not going to happen. We are going to see a third meeting between Saint Mary's and Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference Tournament, a matchup we have seen in four straight seasons, and in 13 of the past 17 tournaments.
