The long awaited debut of the UFC in Serbia goes down tomorrow afternoon at UFC Belgrade. There is no other more fitting headliner then the Serbian born Uros Medic who has been red hot as of late.

Daniel Rodriguez will be the lucky opponent to step up for the 5 round Main Event. Coming off struggles of his own, Rodriguez is eager to get back in the cage and continue his own winning streak.

The Co – Main event is bringing an equal amount of hype to the card. Jan Blachowicz will look to make history at 43 years old when he takes on the hot upcoming prospect from New Zealand Navajo Stirling.

The Main Event of UFC Belgrade is rather fitting considering the circumstances. UFC will be making its debut in the country, so why not have a home town star headline the first card.

Serbian born prospect Uros Medic will take on UFC veteran Daniel Rodriguez in a 5 round bout. The bout will mark the first headlining spot of Medic's young career with no better location then Serbia.

The bout will also mark Rodriguez first bout back from a 8 month prison stay in Mexico. What was supposed to be a nice vacation to Mexico, turned into a 8 month nightmare when Rodriguez was caught with marijuana at the border.

The laws are much different in Mexico and somehow Rodriguez was unable to make bond in that time. Rodriguez is now 39 years old and riding a 3 fight win streak the law trouble came at a complete inopportune time.

Unfortunately Rodriguez is not getting any younger and the 8 months away from the sport could have some severe effects. He has been outspoken about his ability to train while serving his time and the limited options that were available to him.

Spending almost an entire year away from the sport, eating bad food and not training properly sounds like a recipe for disaster. As forementioned he was on an impressive streak before it and with 14 UFC bouts in his tenure he has proven to be a very capable veteran.

In his 14 fights with the UFC he has gone 10-4 with the 3 straight victories coming at the best time in his career. When the streak began he was fighting for his job coming off 3 straight losses, being finished in 2.

Will Medic Rise To The Opportunity?

In a match up with such a hungry up and coming, he will need to return to perfect form to fully compete. Uros Medic has made an incredible splash as of late and earned this homecoming opportunity.

Much like many prospects now a days, Medic earned his UFC contract with an impressive knockout in 2020. Since, he has racked up 10 UFC bouts in such a short time going 7-3 in that span.

The Serbian prospect is currently riding a 3 fight winning streak and looking career best. Medic has finished all 3 fights by way of impressive knockout, all coming in the first round.

No knockout bigger then his last victory over Geoff Neal in February. The knockout came as a big underdog and proved Medic belongs at the top of the division due to Neal's resume.

Co – Main Event: Jan Blachowicz vs Navajo Stirling Preview – Light Heavyweight

The Co – Main Event of UFC Belgrade came together rather quickly despite being a fantastic match up. Jan Blachowicz was originally supposed to take on Bogdan Guskov on this card but Guskov was pulled to step in for the Main Event of UFC Abu Dhabi last week.

The change marked the 2nd time this year Guskov pulled out of a fight with Jan Blachowicz. The series of events has sidelined Blachowicz so thankfully Navajo Stirling is stepping up on a few weeks notice to take on the veteran instead.

At the ripe age of 43 years old, Blachowicz can not afford to be sidelined for much longer. Blachowicz will become one of the oldest fighters in recent history to step into the octagon on Saturday.

To be fighting at such a high level at 43 years old is entirely impressive in itself. His record since 2022 shows a bit of an odd story though, as he has gone 0-2-2 on that run.

2 draws on a 4 fight streak is almost unheard of in the UFC world. This would mean that Blachowicz has not won a fight since 2022 when Rakic broke his leg throwing a kick.

To be actually technical, his last real win hasnt come since he beat middleweight champ Isreal Adesanya in 2021. Now we are 5 years removed from that win and it remains to be seen exactly where Blachowicz skill set is at.

Early on in his career the former champion made a name for himself by showing off his "polish power". Racking up many knockouts along his run he was able to capture the title in 2020 with a big win over Dominick Reyes.

Will Blachowicz Make History At 43?

At one point in his career Blachowicz was able to use strong leg kicks and solid boxing to implement a wrestle heavy game plan. At this point in his career it is a real question weather his body will allow him to do that.

Blachowicz is at even more of a disadvantage with a 15 year age difference. There is no doubt he will need to dig deep to take on such a highly touted prospect like Stirling.

Navajo Stirling has made a splash on the scene since joining the UFC in 2024. The prospect got his shot on Dana White's Contender series when he scored a highlight reel knockout in round 2.

The impressive performance earned him a contract and he has shined in every opportunity since. Stirling has ripped off 5 wins in a row now including finishing back to back fights.

The knock out victories of late show great improvement in his game as he started his career with 3 straight decision victories. He is training out of the notorious City Kickboxing camp, which helps shed light on his stardom and quick growth.

The New Zealand prospect has proven he has sustainable grappling and slick striking on his climb to the top. In a match up with such an age gap, I expect him to use his speed to overwhelm Blachowicz and possibly find his 3rd finish in a row.
