Battle of the Beltways kickoff in Baltimore on Friday for the start of a 3-game set between the Nationals and Orioles. Andrew Alvarez gets the starts for the Nationals while Trevor Rogers will get the start for the O's. In this article, I'll share my Nationals vs Orioles picks. Let's dive into my best MLB picks for this interleague matchup!
Washington Nationals vs. Baltimore Orioles MLB Betting Insights

Both the Nationals and Orioles come into this series not in the best of spirits. The Nationals were leading or tied with the Phillies in the 9th inning in their last 3 games against them and managed to lose all three. The Orioles meanwhile lost 7-6 in extras to the Angels on Wednesday afternoon after blowing a 5-2 lead in the 8th inning and had to fly cross country back to Baltimore. It will be very interesting to see how both teams respond tonight in the first of a very important 3 game series.

The Nationals as of late have had a lot of success against the Orioles going 7-2 against them in the last 9 meetings between the teams. A good amount of those games the Nats have won as underdogs, a spot they find themselves in once again on Friday night.
The Orioles have the pitching advantage going into this game on the bump with Trevor Rogers against Andrew Alvarez. However, the Trevor Rogers experience this season has been a roller coaster. After 3 really good starts at the beginning of the season, he was not very good in his next 7 starts. As of late in his last 4 starts he has been excellent. 24.1 innings pitched in the month of June with a 2.22 ERA. He has only given up 17 hits and 6 earned runs in that span.
Rogers is 2-5 at home this season with a 5.52 ERA and now faces one of the top offenses in baseball. It's still crazy to think the Nationals have one of the best offenses in baseball, but we're approaching July and they continue to rake. 433 runs scored is the most in baseball. 108 home runs is 4th in baseball and 684 hits is 5th in baseball. As good as Rogers has been lately I think we could see some regression tonight against the Nats.
On the other side of the mound, Rogers counterpart Andrew Alvarez has been really solid for the Nats this year. Alvarez has a 3.34 ERA this season with 32.1 innings pitched but has a 2.70 ERA in the month of June. He has only given up more than three earned runs in one start this season. The Nats left hander hasn't been going that deep into games so the Nats bullpen will need to do a little heavy lifting in this game which is always worrisome.
This is definitely a bet though on fading the recent hot stretch of Rogers and his volatility versus one of the best offenses in baseball. I also just think the Nationals are a better team and getting them at plus money in any of these games will likely be a bet for me including this one.
