The Washington Nationals visit the Athletics in Game 2 of their 3 game set tonight, at Sutter Health Park, in Sacramento. Washington's offense just unloaded on the Athletics last night as they cruised to a 23-4 victory. The Nationals enter this game with a record of 49-49, currently 3 games out of the last National League Wild Cards pot. The Athletics have had a disappointing season as they sit at 41-56 and are 7.5 games out of the final American League Wild Card spot. How will tonight's contest play out? Let's take a look…

Despite their terrible bullpen, anytime you can get this Nationals team at plus money, you have to give it a deeper look. The Nats have scored the most runs in the majors at 539. On the road they have scored 267 runs, which is 2nd to only the Los Angeles Dodgers. Washington stayed hot out of the All star Break putting up 23 runs last night in the series opener. Zack Littell toes the rubber tonight for the Nats and he has settled in after a rough start to the season. Since May 1st he has a 3.61 ERA on a 1.10 WHIP. He is 7-2 during that span and has allowed only 48 hits over 57.1 innings pitched.
J.T. Ginn has been surprisingly solid for the Athletics this season. The Right Hander sports a home ERA of 3.75 on a 1.56 WHIP but this National team will be one of the toughest offenses he has faced all season. Behind Ginn is a bullpen that has a major league worst 5.53 ERA. Washington is averaging 5 runs per 9 Innings vs Right Handed Pitching on the road this season and I like them to go above that number tonight, at Sutter Health Park, which is very conducive to runs.
Player Prop: James Wood Over 2.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs +114 Lucky Rebel
The Nationals stud Lefty went 2/5 last night with 2 runs batted in. He is hitting .278 on the season with 28 home runs and 66 runs batted in. Against right handed pitching he is hitting .282 with 20 home runs and 45 runs batted in. His numbers take a little dip on the road, where is hitting .261 with 10 home runs and 29 runs batted in, but I still like this matchup against tonight. JT Ginn has a concerning 1.56 WHIP at home this season, so the base paths should be full of runners. Wood has also performed very well against the pitch mix he will see, let's break it down:
- Sinker (.281 ISO/61.5 Hard hit %)
- Changeup (.171 ISO/54.2 Hard Hit%)
- Cutter (.231 ISO/52.25 Hard Hit %
- Slider (.462 ISO/53.8 Hard Hit%
- 4 Seam (.428 ISO/65.7 Hard Hit%
Wood will have ample opportunity for multiple hits, runs and runs batted in again. He is one of my favorite hitters to bet on and I am going to look his way in this game tonight.
