We've got some beautiful Sunday baseball on tap between two of the more storied organizations in the sport, as Logan Webb and the San Francisco Giants host the Chicago Cubs out at Oracle Park. Let's dive into my favorite MLB pick for this one!

San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago Cubs MLB Betting Insights

Logan Webb - giants

Colin Rea is projected to take on a bulk reliever role for the Cubs today, so don't panic if you see him on the mound right from the jump. Meanwhile, Giants' ace Logan Webb is scheduled to toe the rubber.

The Cubs got off to a hot start this season but have hit a bit of a lull lately, which honestly isn't surprising given the number of injuries they've had to navigate through. The Giants, meanwhile, are sitting 15 games under .500 and are pretty much running out of time to find answers in 2026.

Temperatures should be in the 60s at Oracle Park with some wind blowing out, but I'm not putting much weight on that. Oracle mostly suppresses wind anyway and tends to play as a bump for pitchers.

Giants vs. Cubs Prediction: Giants Win Outright

Best Bet: San Francisco Giants Moneyline (-132) — BetOnline.ag Sportsbook

A lot of this comes down to the pitching matchup, and I think it tilts heavily in the Giants' favor.

Webb had a miserable start to the year, but he might finally be clicking on all cylinders. Over his last two starts, he's tossed 15 innings of one-run ball and recorded 22 groundball outs, which is exactly what I want to see from him.

Generating weak contact on the ground is Webb's elite trait. According to Baseball Savant, he ranks in the 96th percentile in groundball rate, and while his strikeout rate has been pedestrian, his chase rate sits in the 76th percentile. He suppresses barrels, he doesn't issue walks, and his expected ERA has finally dipped back under 4.00. He's rounding into form at exactly the right time.

The Cubs' bullpen has been good this season. They own the eighth-best bullpen ERA in baseball, but Colin Rea is the soft spot, and he's the guy projected to handle bulk innings today. Rea is a hitter's punching bag, plain and simple. He carries a 5.87 expected ERA, he gives up a ton of hard contact with a 12.7% barrel rate, and he doesn't strike anybody out. Whenever Rea is in the game, the ball is going to be put in play, and it's going to be hit hard. Rea survives almost entirely on batted-ball and luck.

Additionally, the matchup on the offensive side backs this up too. The Giants rank 10th in weighted runs created plus against right-handed pitching in June, and Bryce Eldridge has given this lineup a real jolt since his call-up in early May. Since the beginning of the month, Eldridge has belted five home runs while hitting .317, and he's delivered some clutch moments that have injected life into this Giants team.

I like Webb to control most of this game at home, and I like the Giants' offense to do just enough against a bulk reliever who has no out pitches and surrenders a ton of hard contact. Give me San Francisco on the moneyline.
