You've found my MLB best bets today for Tuesday, Sept. 15! I'm on two road favorites who are in smash matchups. We enjoyed a crazy opening week of NFL betting, but we're on a hiatus until Thursday Night Football. No worries, there is plenty of good baseball left to bet!
Before we dive into the best MLB picks today, check out our MLB Picks Page and MLB Odds Page.
MLB Expert Picks Today (Sept. 15)

Let's start at Target Field, where the Twins are hosting the Yankees. New York celebrated a playoff berth Monday night, and it is easy to understand why some bettors may expect a flat performance the next day. Teams that clinch often become fade candidates, particularly when there has been a clubhouse celebration and a long regular-season grind is nearly over.
But I'm not interested in forcing that narrative here.

Twins vs. Yankees MLB Prediction

Best Bet: Yankees -1.5 (-105) | BetOnline.ag
My first MLB best bet today is Yankees -1.5 against the Twins.
Aaron Judge being back changes the entire feel of this lineup. He homered Monday, and the Yankees are simply more dangerous, more stable, and more confident when their captain is in the middle of the order. New York also sends Max Fried to the mound, and the veteran left-hander should be looking to sharpen his stuff before the postseason begins.
The matchup against Bailey Ober is a major reason to attack the Yankees' run line. Ober has struggled to limit left-handed damage this season, allowing a .228 expected ISO to lefties. That is a problem against a New York lineup that can stack dangerous bats from that side of the plate.
Judge is the biggest name in the lineup, but the Yankees' left-handed threats are what make this matchup particularly appealing. Ben Rice has become one of the better left-handed hitters in baseball, Cody Bellinger is healthy, and Luis Garcia gives New York another hitter capable of making Ober pay for a mistake.
Minnesota's recent performance against left-handed pitching only strengthens the case. The Twins have been lifeless against southpaws in September, ranking 27th in wRC+ and striking out at a 27% clip in the split. That is a bad formula against Fried.
I expect New York to bring enough offense against Ober while Fried limits the Twins' chances to keep pace.
Give me Yankees -1.5.
Angels vs. Mariners Expert Pick Today

My second MLB pick today is Mariners -1.5 against the Angels.
Seattle draws Ryan Johnson in Anaheim, and this is exactly the type of matchup I want to target with the Mariners. Johnson has struggled against left-handed hitters, allowing an ISO above .200 to that side of the plate, and the Mariners have multiple bats capable of taking advantage.

Angels vs. Mariners MLB Prediction

Best Bet: Mariners -1.5 (+100) | BetOnline.ag
Dominic Canzone is one obvious name. He has consistently punished right-handed pitching, and he is part of a Seattle lineup that has been on another level against righties this month.
The Mariners enter Tuesday with the best wRC+ in baseball against right-handed pitching in September and the third-highest OPS in that split. The numbers get even better when you focus on their road performance against right-handed pitching. Seattle owns the highest wRC+ in baseball in that spot by more than 30 points, which is a massive gap at this point of the season.
That is the key to this bet. The Mariners have been hitting right-handed pitching all month, and getting away from T-Mobile Park is not a bad thing for a lineup with this kind of power upside. Give Seattle a vulnerable right-hander in a road environment, and it is a group I want to back.
Logan Gilbert gives the Mariners a meaningful pitching advantage. The Angels rank 29th in wRC+ this month and have been one of baseball's weakest offenses against right-handed pitching for the full season. Gilbert does not need to be perfect, but this is a favorable spot for him to limit a struggling lineup.
Seattle should have plenty of opportunities to do damage against Johnson, and I like Gilbert to hold up his end long enough for the Mariners to create some separation.
Give me Mariners -1.5 at plus money.
