The Philadelphia Phillies are a long way from home as they face the NL West leading Los Angeles Dodgers. We looked at the Rockies and Giants as both teams bring losing streaks into that game, well in this one, both are on impressive winning streaks. But one must come to an end tonight. Get in and get out with the first five under in this game. We are simply backing both starting pitchers to do what they have done all season long. Wheeler has allowed just seven earned runs across six starts this season, and has pitched 13 scoreless innings over his last two outings. He's walked just one batter each in those games, and has given up just six total hits. For any of you math people, Wheeler has a 0.61 WHIP and a 0.00 ERA over his last couple of games.
His splits also improve on the road, where is ERA drops to 1.42. Even against the Dodgers, I believe he can shut them down, especially considering LA's team batting average drops from .262 to .250 at home this year. That's still plenty good, but it moves in our direction. As for the Phillies' bats, I'm not too worried.
Philadelphia hits .228 overall, but that drops to .216 against left handed pitching and all the way down to .213 when they play away from the Bank. After starting off red hot, Wrobleski has cooled down, giving up 14 of his 19 earned runs this season in his last three starts. But ultimately I trust him to get out of this slump against a Phillies team that severely struggles against southpaws. Give me a quick five innings that might be completely scoreless.
