Tonight concludes the only series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox this season unless both were to meet in the World Series. It isn't very likely, as Philly is currently third in the NL East, 10 games behind the Atlanta Braves who are running away with the division. On the other side, the Red Sox are at the bottom of the AL East, ironically, 10 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Both sub .500 teams are looking to improve their record and win this series tonight, so let's get into our favorite MLB picks in this matchup.

Bryce Harper and the Phillies face their former teammate today on the road

This game is for all the marbles. The Phillies successfully beat the Red Sox in the first game on Tuesday, winning 2-1. But last night, Boston got their revenge, winning 3-1 in their own ballpark. Now the two settle the score in game three tonight. Prior to last night's loss, Philadelphia had actually strung together three consecutive wins, but they are just 8-11 on the road this year.

The Red Sox don't have much to cheer about, going just 8-13 at Fenway Park so far this season. In fact, Boston has only won three straight games twice this season, but they have been in the middle of some major losing streaks. Can they find a way to get the victory tonight?

Two southpaws take the mound for their teams, so let's look at the betting odds and get into our picks!

Phillies vs. Red Sox Prediction: Red Sox Win, Phillies Cover, Under 7

Best Bet: Red Sox F5 ML (-104) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

The Red Sox hit left handed pitchers MUCH better than the Phillies. Philadelphia hits .232 as a team, just .205 on the road, and .215 against LHP. For Boston, their .236 average drops to .223 at home, but they explode against lefties, hitting .271 as a team. That sticks out to me, and I'll be leaning into it.

Jesus Luzardo has also had a rough year. I'll admit his away splits improve significantly on the road this year, but he's faced the Marlins, Cubs and Rockies away from home, two of which are near the bottom of their division. Luzardo is coming off allowing five earned runs in just three innings to the Rockies at the Bank, allowing six hits and three walks, including a home run. He's now allowed home runs in each of his last two starts, giving up 14 hits and eight runs in just 9.1 innings. Not great.

Although the Boston bats haven't been all that productive, it's tough to deny their ability to hit left handed pitchers. I think we see a low scoring game anyways, but I'll be backing Ranger Suarez to have a better few innings than Luzardo early on in this game, resulting in the Red Sox winning the first five innings.
