The Mets have absolutely sucked this season. It is not even mid-May, and they are already 11.5 games out of first place in the NL East. This team went on a 12 game losing streak, which actually started after losing the last two to the Diamondbacks in their earlier series. Plus, their splits do not help them on the road.
The Mets hit .224 as a team regardless of where they play. But they hit just .219 against left handed pitchers. Not great when the Snakes are tossing out Rodriguez, who is having a hell of a year. He hasn't lost a decision yet this season, and Arizona has actually won five straight when he's gotten the start. Rodriguez is coming off pitching seven scoreless against the Pirates, allowing just three hits and two walks while earning seven strikeouts as well.
The man is already in midseason form, and he's already proven to shove against New York. Earlier in the year, Rodriguez pitched six innings against the Mets, allowing only a solo home run and five total hits. While he's not a huge strikeout guy, he can certainly stop the Mets from getting on base and knocking runners around. Give me the Snakes to assert their dominance tonight.
