Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels MLB Picks
Reid Detmers is one of my favorite pitchers to fade, and we're betting on him giving up some runs tonight
Rangers vs. Angels Pitching Matchup
- Texas Rangers: LHP Mackenzie Gore (6-9, 4.55 ERA, 1.24 WHIP)
- Los Angeles Angels: LHP Reid Detmers (3-8, 4.12 ERA, 1.10 WHIP)
Best Bet: Rangers/Angels Over 8 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
We are backing runs in the City of Angels tonight as Los Angeles hosts Texas. Two lefties take the bump with a combined ERA of 8.67. Mackenzie Gore watches his ERA climb to 5.79 on the road this year, giving up 22 earned runs in his last six road starts since June. He already pitched against this Angels team twice. On the road he was good, giving up just one hit and run in six innings, but in July, the Angels took him for seven runs on nine hits including two bombs.
Reid Detmers starts for LA, and I love fading this guy. Especially when his opponents see a 10 point increase in batting average against left handed pitchers. Detmers has allowed three earned runs in half of his starts since the beginning of July. The Angels have lost six in a row with this guy starting. Like Gore, Detmers pitched well against the Rangers the first time, but not so much the second. Good thing the Angels see a slight increase against lefties as well, and given that they tore up Gore before, Detmers should get plenty of run support.
Give me lots of scoring from both sides tonight.
Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Picks
Is this dude seriously backing the Diamondbacks at home again? Duh.
Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Pitching Matchup
- Colorado Rockies: RHP Gabriel Hughes (0-3, 4.25 ERA, 1.18 WHIP)
- Arizona Diamondbacks: RHP Michael Soroka (8-3, 3.07 ERA, 1.09 WHIP)
Best Bet: Diamondbacks -1.5 (+100) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
"Oh my goodness, Shaggy is betting the Snakes again." You better believe it, especially in this spot. No system play, as we have a righty for the Rockies but I still think the Diamondbacks cruise to an easy victory tonight. Arizona leads the regular season series against Colorado 5-2, covering the run line three separate times. However, these teams haven't seen each other since May.
Regardless, Soroka starts for the Snakes with an ERA that drops over an entire run to 2.05 at home. He is making his first start since June, coming back from injury, but the Rockies are just 19-40 on the road hitting .240 as a team. They've dropped five of their last six and start Gabriel Hughes who has allowed 14 earned runs in his last 21.1 innings, including five on just four hits against Tampa Bay last Tuesday. I have more than enough faith in the Snakes getting the job done.
Kansas City Royals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Picks
Noah Cameron has a 1.01 WHIP on the road and sees his ERA drop as well in 10 outings
Royals vs. Dodgers Pitching Matchup
- Kansas City Royals: LHP Noah Cameron (6-8, 4.37 ERA, 1.29 WHIP)
- Los Angeles Dodgers: LHP Tarik Skubal (7-6, 2.81 ERA, 0.92 WHIP)
Best Bet: Royals F5 +0.5 (+120) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Plus money for a five inning sweat tonight in LA. Look, the Dodgers have been terrible recently, going just 1-7 in August. They also see their .260 season average drop to .251 at home, to .255 against lefties and all the way down to .244 in their last eight games. This is worth a half unit sprinkle, which is all I'm doing.
The Royals are so much worse, but they do hit .249 against lefties, above their team average. Plus, they've been serviceable during the past few weeks without Bobby Witt, and he's back in the lineup. Noah Cameron has his ERA drop to 3.54 in 10 road appearances this season, posting just a 1.01 WHIP away from home as well.
I think he can shutout the Dodgers for a few innings. We might not even need the Royals offense to score to cash this.
