MLB Bets & Props for Wednesday, May 6: Action on Atlanta?

What's going on, everyone? We've got a strong slate of baseball action in store for Wednesday after and evening.
Below, I've got a mix of player props and sides that I'll be wagering on throughout the diamond. Let's go ahead and take a look at my MLB bets and props for Wednesday, May 6.
MLB Bets & Props for Wednesday, May 6
Atlanta Braves vs Seattle Mariners
I've got two plays in this 4:10 PM ET matchup between the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves.
Out in the Pacific Northwest at T-Mobile Park, weather conditions are expected to sit around 66°, with the wind blowing out toward center field at roughly 7 MPH.
I was a bit surprised to see this game total as low as eight. Mariners starter Bryan Woo has struggled to begin the season, posting a 4.61 ERA and a 4.64 xFIP through seven starts. He's generating ground balls at a measly 31% clip, while allowing a hard-hit rate of 48% and a barrel rate of 10%.
That's a tough portfolio to possess against an Atlanta lineup that owns a 135 wRC+, .858 OPS and .238 ISO against right-handed pitching over the past couple of weeks.
Not only do I expect the Braves to punish Woo and potentially force Seattle into an earlier pitching change, but I'm also betting on him to stay under 5.5 strikeouts at -137. Woo has totaled just three strikeouts across his past two outings and is averaging only 4.1 strikeouts per game this season. It's surprising to see this prop sitting at 5.5 given how much he's underperformed and the caliber of offense he'll be facing.
Not only do the Braves rake, but they've also been disciplined at the plate, posting a 20% strikeout rate against righties, which ranks fifth-best in Major League Baseball.
On the other side, southpaw Martin Perez takes the bump for the visitors. His 2.22 ERA has a worrisome shadow hanging over it that features a 4.47 expected ERA and a 4.43 xFIP. Scary innings could be looming for the veteran left-hander, and the Mariners could be the beneficiary of that.
Let's also take advantage of this low total and look for plenty of runs to come across the plate in this matchup.

Boston Red Sox vs Detroit Tigers
Let's shift to the Motor City, where the third and final game of this series between the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers takes place at 6:40 PM ET.
Boston has gotten into a nice groove in this series, winning 5-4 before following that up with a 10-3 onslaught on Tuesday night.
The Red Sox will send right-hander Sonny Gray to the mound in an attempt to complete the sweep. Gray has made only five starts this season, totaling just 23 innings of work. His 4.30 ERA and 5.66 xERA are certainly concerning, but his 54% ground-ball rate and sub-38% hard-hit rate offer a bit of reassurance.
Gray's most recent start came against Detroit, and that outing was cut short because of a right hamstring strain. This now gives him an opportunity to finish what he started against a team he's historically pitched well against, going 5-2 with a 2.45 ERA in his career versus the Tigers.
For Detroit, Jack Flaherty will, surprisingly, get the nod today. I say surprisingly because, given how poorly he's pitched, it's shocking that any team would employ him at the Major League level.
Flaherty hasn't made it past 3.2 innings in each of his past three starts. Across his previous two outings alone, he's surrendered 10 runs on 10 hits, including four home runs.
On the year, the 30-year-old right-hander owns a 5.90 ERA, 6.18 FIP, 31% ground-ball rate, 12.5% HR/FB ratio, 1.79 WHIP and just a 5% strikeout-to-walk ratio.
I'd be looking to fade Flaherty regardless of the opponent, but especially against a surging Boston Red Sox lineup eager to get a sweep in their favor.
