Yordan Alvarez is the DH for the American League in tonight's MLB All Star Game - MLB All Star Game Picks

Yordan Alvarez is the DH for the American League in tonight's MLB All Star Game

Let's first look at some history for this contest. Up until the 2016 season, this game actually meant something. The winning league was granted home field advantage for the World Series, but the MLB stopped that a decade ago. The National League has won two of the last three All Star Games, but prior to that, the American League was on a nine year winning streak, excluding the cancelled contest in 2020.

Past All Star Game Winners

  • 2025: National League: 7-6
  • 2024: American League: 5-3
  • 2023: National League: 3-2
  • 2022: American League: 3-2
  • 2021: American League: 5-2
  • 2020: Cancelled
  • 2019: American League: 4-3
  • 2018: American League: 8-6 (10 innings)
  • 2017: American League: 2-1 (10 innings)
  • 2016: American League: 4-2

The American League has won seven of the last nine All Star Games, yet they are still an underdog tonight. We have a total sitting at 8.5, which has stayed under in seven of the last nine as well.

MLB All Star Game Prediction: American League Wins Outright, Under 8.5

Best Bet: Under 8.5 (-125) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

I get it, it's an All Star Game. No one wants to actively root against offense, but I like money more. And I believe this is the right side. We have two of the best on the mound tonight, and sure, they might only be pitching a couple of innings. But every guy on the mound tonight is a stud. There is no bullpen involved.

Personally, I think that makes it much tougher on the hitters, especially if you don't know who you are facing in your next at bat. Yes, you can make the argument that the same goes for the hitters. We aren't getting the 7, 8, 9 guys in the batting order, we're getting the best of the best. It is an all star game. However, I side with the pitchers in this battle and think they shove tonight.

Maybe we get one or two long balls, but I don't see either team stringing together multiple hits resulting in plenty of offense. Instead, I see this being a multi-pitchers dual, giving us a low scoring ball game.
