Nathan Eovaldi looks to record his 10th win of the season vs the Angels tonight
Nathan Eovaldi is having a decent season for the Texas Rangers, but maybe by his standards it hasn't been all that great. The Rangers right hander has been able to stay healthy which is always the key for him. This is a guy who has never pitched more than 200 innings in a season in 15 years in the big leagues, but has been super effective and has found a nice home in Arlington, Texas.
This is Eovaldi's 4th year with the Rangers and in the previous 3 years he has had a sub 4.00 ERA including last year where his ERA was 1.73. This year the ERA is currently 4.02, but he is trending in the right direction. Tonight he faces an Angels lineup that he saw on May 23rd that scored three runs and got five hits off of him in 7 innings. We will see if Nate can get that ERA below 4.00.

Don't let the 3-6 record this season fool you, Detmers has been really good for the Angles. His 117 strikeouts are 13th best in baseball and his WHIP is 18th (1.11).

Safe to say Detmers has had success against this lineup in the past. It definitely showed on May 24th when Detmers had his best start of the season and one of the best of his career. He went 8 innings gave up 1 hit, 1 earned run, 0 walks and 14 strikeouts. I'm sure he is looking forward to facing the Rangers again tonight.
The Angels are one of the worst teams in baseball, I know it's not easy to bet on them. Tonight, I think it's a good idea. This is a divisional matchup where anything can happen. Detmers dominated this team last time he faced them and the Angels won 13-1 last night so their bullpen is way more rested and ready to go than the Rangers. The total in the game is 7 so this matchup is expected to be low scoring because of the two pitchers and I think Detmers will get the better of Eovaldi and the Halos come out on top.
