Kansas City Royals vs Minnesota Twins Preview

The Royals picked up their second win of the young season on Monday night, taking down the Twins 3-1. They also grabbed a 4-1 win in Atlanta prior to that, avoiding a potential three-game sweep to open the year.
Now, they'll look to make it three in a row as they face Joe Ryan and Minnesota tonight.
Ryan is coming off another strong season in 2025, going 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA and a 3.74 FIP. He also looked sharp in his 2026 debut against Baltimore, tossing 5.1 innings of one-hit ball with no earned runs and seven strikeouts.
That said, Kansas City's offense hasn't done much against righties to start the year, ranking 27th in wRC+ (70) with a .596 OPS through 95 at-bats.
As for the Royals starter, left-hander Noah Cameron gets the nod tonight. Cameron hasn't made a start yet this season, but he put together a strong stat line in his rookie campaign last year, going 9-7 with a 2.99 ERA and a 4.18 FIP. He also had a low .241 BABIP and a solid 41.4% ground ball rate. Although his FIP could indicate slight regression, I'm wouldn't be surprised if he evades it this evening against a mediocre Minnesota lineup.
The Twins have just 63 plate appearances against southpaws so far, but own a 46 wRC+ and a .458 OPS. They were also below average against left-handed pitching last season.
Royals vs Twins Pick
This game is expected to feature some poor weather, with winds blowing in around 10 mph from right-center field, temperatures below 60 degrees and a chance of rain.
Even if the weather weren't a factor, I'd still lean toward a lower-scoring game.
Because of the conditions, I'll be targeting the first five under. I know what to expect from these pitchers and would rather rely on their excellence rather than each club's bullpen.
So, let's get ready to sweat out a pretty ugly offensive matchup between the Royals and Twins.
MLB Record: 9-2-1 (+8.00 units)
