Tonight is the first game of a 3-game series between the Tigers and Rangers, who are both playing much better baseball. Framber Valdez gets the starts for the Tigers against a familiar foe and Nathan Eovaldi will take the bump for the Rangers. I'll share my Tigers vs Rangers picks. Let's dive into my best MLB picks for tonight's matchup.

Can Framber Valdez find success against a familiar team?
Detroit Tigers left hander Framber Valdez joined the Tigers this offseason. His previous 8 years, he pitched for the Houston Astros. He turned himself into one of the better pitchers in the American League. Pitching for Houston for nearly a decade, meant he was a member of the AL West and faced the Texas Rangers quite a bit. This is the third time this year that Valdez will be facing an AL West team. His last start came against his former team, Houston. He gave up 9 hits and 4 earned runs in 6 innings. He also faced Seattle at the beginning of June going 5 innings and giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run.
In his career Valdez is 9-6 against the Rangers with a 2.80 ERA, 117 strikeouts in 20 appearances. Historically, he has pitched very well against Texas and tonight he faces a Rangers lineup missing two of their best hitters in Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford.

Tigers vs. Rangers Prediction: Tigers win
Tigers look for their 4th win in a row tonight
Best Bet: Tigers ML +106 and Tigers-Rangers Under 7 (+105) – Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
We talked earlier about how good Valdez has been against the Rangers in his career. He's familiar with the lineup, the stadium, and normally performs well. On top of that, this season for the Tigers he has been better on the road then he has been at home. Valdez has a 3.59 away from Detroit, where at home his ERA jumps to 4.60. After posting a 5.93 ERA in May he bounced back nicely and had a 3.21 ERA in June.
Nathan Eovaldi on the other side for Texas has been a workhorse this season, per usual. 100.1 innings pitched already and has a 3.95 ERA. In 7 of his last 10 starts he has gone at least 7 innings. That is obviously very rare in today's MLB. Facing a Tigers lineup that has struggled all season I would expect Eovaldi to go late into this game as well and give the Rangers another really good outing.
In what I expect to be a low scoring game with these two pitcher's I'm also going to take Detroit to win the game at +106. I think it's a little fishy that a team who is 11 games below .500 is taking on a division leader on the road and the line is as short as it is. Tigers did just go to the Bronx and sweep the Yankees so we will see if that carries over to tonight and this series.
Give me the under and the Tigers tonight. I think Detroit finds a way to win a low scoring ball game.
