Riley Greene and the Tigers have now lost three straight, and no longer lead the AL Central - Tigers Royals Picks

Riley Greene and the Tigers have now lost three straight, and no longer lead the AL Central

The first series was very ugly for Kansas City. They competed in every game, losing by one run each time. They dropped the first two by identical scores of 2-1, and lost the series finale 10-9. Their bats finally woke up in the third game, but it still wasn't enough to get the job done. Tonight, Kris Bubic looks to lead the Royals to victory as the Southpaw gets the start.

The Tigers are just 6-14 on the road this year, watching their team batting average drop from .244 to .238. But against lefties, it drops even more. So far this year, the Tigers hit a measly .208 against left handed pitchers, which is good for fifth worst in the entire MLB. Plus, all the Friday Night trends point to the Royals winning this game.

Tigers vs. Royals Prediction: Royals Win and Cover, Over 8.5

There is magic in the air at Kauffman Stadium on Friday Nights. Over the course of the last two and a half seasons, including two games so far this year, the Royals have been unbeatable at home on Friday. Looking back at their last 32 games at home on Friday, the Royals are 23-9 straight up, they are 19-13 in winning by two, and also 19-13 in scoring at least five runs in the contest.

Let's look at those raw numbers.

Kansas City wins nearly 72% of their games at home on Friday, looking at a 32 game sample size. They cover the run line and score at least five runs in 59.4% of those contests as well. Maybe this theory is meaningless. Maybe the team is just getting lucky at home. But as a Royals fan who will defend Kansas City until he is blue in the face and out of breath, I am leaning into this theory and believing it to be true.

So far, it hasn't steered me wrong yet, as the Yals have won and covered the run line in both games at home on Friday this year, including scoring five runs in their last outing. The Royals bats have come alive as they are storming up the AL Central standings, and I think they continue their winning ways tonight at home.
