Back this week after going 5-1 last week for +4.92 Units. Today we'll look at my Colorado Rockies vs Minnesota Twins Picks & Analysis.

Colorado Rockies vs Minnesota Twins Picks and Preview

The Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins continue their 3 game series tonight, at Target Field. Runs were a-plenty in last night's series opener. The Rockies overcame a 7-0 deficit and took an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning. The twins rallied to tie the game in the 9th, thanks to a Byron Buxton RBI single. Minnesota ended up walking it off in the 10th thanks to a Royce Lewis RBI single.

This is a matchup features 2 of the worst pitching staffs in the majors, will the runs continue? Let's take a look.

Colorado Rockies vs Minnesota Twins Game Predictions and Best Bets

Byron Buxton

Game Pick: Colorado Rockies vs Minnesota Twins Over 9 -115 Lucky Rebel

As I mentioned previosuly, these are two of the worst pitching staffs in Major League Baseball. The Rockies own a staff ERA of 5.81, which is 2nd worst. Minnesota owns a staff ERA of 4.29, which is 10th worst. We have 2 subpar pitchers going. First, lets look at Colorado starter Michael Lorenzen. In 8 road starts, Lorenzen owns an ERA of 6.05, a WHIP of 1.63 and a BAA of 3.17. The Twins turn to rookie Right Hander Mike Paredes. He has only started 1 game at home, where he allowed 3 earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched to the Royals earlier in the month.

Behind these two starters are two atrocious bullpens. The Twins own a bullpen ERA of 5.42, which is 2nd worst in Major League Baseball. The Rockies own a bullpen ERA of 5.00, which is 4th worst in the majors. Both pens made their presence felt in the series opener as we saw 10 runs in the final 3 innings. Both of these offenses are very capable and I think the scoring will continue tonight.

Player Prop: Byron Buxton Over 2.5 Hits+Runs+RBI +109 Lucky Rebel

Player Prop: TJ Rumfield Over 1.5 Total Bases +135 Lucky Rebel

I am also looking at 2 payer props for this contest tonight. First let's look at Byron Buxton. The Twins slugger is having a fantastic year. He has 25 Home Runs already and he is on pace to surpass his career high of 35. Buxton is hitting .276 with an ISO of .312, with is outstanding. He is hitting .278 vs Right Handed Pitching, with an ISO of .358. He hits much better at home where he sports an average of .321 as oposed to the road where he is only hitting .234. Buxton has cleared this mark in 6 of his last 9 home games, totaling 27 hits, runs and RBIs. Let's dive into the pitch mix he will see tonight:

  • 4 Seam FB – ISO of .410/Hard Hit Rate of 66.7%
  • Changeup – ISO of .128/Hard Hit Rate of 44%
  •  Sinker – ISO of .238/hard Hit Rate of 45.5%
  • Cutter – ISO of .577/Hard Hit Rate of 40%
  • Curveball – ISO of .300/Hard Hit Rate of 58.8%

As you can see, Buxton crushes 4 of the 5 main pitches he will see from Lorenzen.

Next, let's look at Colorado First Baseman, TJ Rumfield. The Rookie is having a fine first season as he is hitting .288 with 30 Extra Base hits. He is hitting slighty better on the road where he hits .293 with 16 Extra Base Hits. Rumfield is hitting .302 vs Right Handed Pitching with an ISO of .252. He has cleared this mark in 7 of his last 9 road games, totaling 29 Bases.

I like both of these hitters to do some damage tonight.
