We have a fun matchup tonight on the south side of Chicago between the Red Sox and the White Sox. Boston is playing a lot better baseball and they will have Jake Bennett on the mound tonight. Meanwhile, the White Sox will send out their best pitcher in Davis Martin. I'll share my Red Sox vs White Sox picks. Let's dive into my best MLB picks for tonight's matchup.

Can Davis Martin continue to pitch well?
If you have been following baseball this year you know the White Sox have been one of the best stories in the sport. They have been a massive surprise to just about every one and have clearly proven that they are legit. A big reason for that is their pitching staff has been really good including the guy getting the start tonight, Davis Martin.
Martin is 9-3 this season with a 3.08 ERA in 96.1 innings pitched. However, the numbers at home are eye popping. In seven games started at Rate Field he is 5-0 with a 0.88 ERA in 41 innings pitched. He has only given up 4 earned runs at home and only 1 home run. He has simply been unhittable in Chicago.

Can Jake Bennett slow down the White Sox offense?

I'm really excited for this game tonight and specifically this pitching matchup. We talked about how good Davis Martin has been this year for Chicago, especially at home, well Jake Bennett has been really good for the Red Sox too. The 25-year old for the Red Sox is in his rookie season and has shown he could definitely have a bright future.
In just 40.2 innings pitched this season Bennett has compiled a 3.10 ERA and only given up 3 home runs. In all seven of his starts this year the Red Sox left-hander has gone at least 5 innings in every start. Think about how impressive that is for a rookie? He has been really solid for Boston and I would expect more of the same tonight against a good White Sox offense.
I also love the fact that both guys keep the ball in the ballpark. As I mentioned, Bennett has only given up 3 home runs this season and Martin has only given up one home run at home. Rate Field is in the top 10 of fewest homers given up this season so likely the teams will have to manufacture runs tonight against these two starters.
This pitching matchup on paper doesn't have the biggest star power, but when you do the research and realize the type of year both Davis Martin and Jake Bennett are having you realize we should have a good one tonight in Chicago. When you combine how good Martin has been at home this season and how it doesn't look like teams have quite yet figured out Bennett, I think under 8 runs is the play.
