One of the oldest rivalries in all of American sports happens this weekend in the Bronx. The New York Yankees face off against the Boston Red Sox at home this weekend, for their second series of the season. The Yankees were able to sweep the Red Sox at Fenway in late April, but Boston got at least a little revenge with a win in the first game of this series last night. There's zero love between these two ball clubs, except one is having a much better year than the other. After last night's loss, the Yankees are just 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for second place in the AL East, while the Red Sox are alone in last place, a full 11 games behind the division leader. Lucky for Boston, they have plenty of time to turn things around.
However, doing so against Will Warren and the Yankees will be tough. Warren is having a phenomenal season with a 7-1 record, and New York is 10-2 in games where he started. As for the Red Sox, Ranger Suarez already got lit up by the Yankees once this season. Will that happen to him again on the road?

I will gladly fade the lefty tonight in the Bronx. Ranger Suarez only lasted 4.1 innings in a loss to the Yankees in April, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks, including a home run. Plus, in his last two outings, he has allowed nine total runs, lasting just five innings in each contest. He is also facing a Yankees team that is 18-12 at home this year, hitting .241 as a team, with that average increasing to .253 against left handed pitchers.
I know, Aaron Judge is not in the lineup. He is just one guy. The Yankees have studs all throughout their batting order, ready to rip Suarez apart in front of their home crowd. They'll be playing with an extra chip on their shoulder after last night's loss. The Yankees are very clearly the better team in this spot, and I'll gladly back them to win by two at home.
This is a team that was hitting .258 during the month of May. Sure, in four games in June, that average is down to just .208. But I think the Yankees can climb their way out of this slump and earn a victory for us.
